Job Description for Role: Assistant Billing SpecialistReports to: Contract Budget Reporting ManagerLocation: Woodside, NYHours & Schedule: M-W 9am-5pmFLSA: Part time, 21 hours per week

Each year, academic programs, including STEM, the arts, sports and wellness, and college access, help 40,000 students develop leadership skills and succeed in school. Working parents count on our programs to provide safe and enriching environments for their children.

Summary:

New York Edge is seeking a highly organized, knowledgeable, and focused individual to fill the role of Billing Specialist. In this full-time role, you will be responsible for ensuring that New York Edge timely and accurately bills for a portfolio of government contracts. The Billing Specialist ensures data integrity, timely billing, and accurate tracking of data and reporting.

Salary Range:

$20 - $23 per hour

Schedule:

Monday – Wednesday, 21 hours per week

Essential Job Functions:

  • Assist with gathering supporting documents for monthly billing
  • Work with members of the finance team and provide analysis and reporting as needed to managers and senior leadership
  • Understands fiscal reporting procedure and requirements of public/private contracts as outlined by funding agencies to ensure grant compliance
  • Assist with the development and implementation of dashboards and trackers to monitor billing progress by funder/contract/site
  • Utilize financial systems to extract data to align billing with general ledger
  • Develop a working knowledge of fiscal policies of contracting agencies, so as to ensure accuracy in expenses being billed and translate to correct line items on required reporting documents to funding sources
  • Assist Manager of Contract Budget Reporting with the preparation and review of financial reports (PERS) for funding agencies


Education Requirement(s):

  • Associate Degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business, or Public Administration

Experience Requirement(s):

  • 2+ years related experience for a non-profit Organization
  • Experience working with cross-functional and inter-department teams

Required Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:

  • Detail-oriented mindset, with a focus on accuracy and quality in all tasks performed
  • Proficient in using productivity tools and software, such as MS Office Suite, Google Docs
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision, take initiative, and problem-solve
  • Ability to collaborate with others within a team environment

Work Environment & Physical Demands:

  • May be required to walk up and down stairs, lift or move objects/materials as needed
  • Work hours will be consistent Monday through Wednesday during regular business hours
