Job description

Position Overview:

The primary responsibility of the Assistant Bartender is to support the Bartender, Lounge Server, and Cocktail Server by maintaining the bar area, delivering products efficiently, and consistently providing exceptional guest service.

All duties are to be performed in accordance with departmental and The Venetian Resort’s policies, practices, and procedures. 

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate effectively with bartenders, cocktail servers, lounge servers, and bar porters to maintain clear communication and promptly address operational needs.
  • Anticipate guest needs and deliver exceptional service while actively seeking opportunities to elevate the overall guest experience.
  • Provide guests with accurate information and directions regarding resort services, features, promotions, and events.
  • Attend all mandatory meetings and training sessions, including service and cocktail training sessions.
  • Maintains familiarity with The Venetian Beverage Training Manual and adheres to all standards.
  • Restock all liquor, wine, beer, nonalcoholic, and dry goods products to assigned bars and outlets.
  • Restocks glassware, ice bins, garnishes, and coolers throughout service to support seamless operations.
  • Complete daily beverage order sheets in collaboration with bartenders and bar porters to communicate ordering needs to management with accurate inventory counts to sustain proper par levels.
Additional Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Ensure beverage outlets are clean, organized, properly stocked to par levels, and consistently maintained throughout the shift.
  • Maintain spotless glassware, sanitary bar tools, and clean bar surfaces to uphold presentation standards, follows all OSHA regulations, SNHD standards, and company policies to maintain a safe and compliant work environment.
  • Report and assist with resolving equipment malfunctions promptly.
  • Demonstrate comprehensive knowledge of beer, wine, spirits, specialty drinks, and all menu offerings across Beverage Department outlets.
  • Uphold safety, professionalism, and reliability as core responsibilities of the role.
  • Preform any additional duties assigned to support operational needs.
  • Regular and consistent attendance is a crucial requirement for this position.
  • Comply with all alcohol awareness guidelines concerning the sale and service of alcoholic beverages.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • 21 years of age.
  • Proof of authorization/eligibility to work in the United States.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain an Alcohol Awareness (TAM) card, Non-gaming card, Health card and any other certification or license, as required by law or policy.
  • Must be able to handle liquor. 
  • 1-year experience as a bartender or barback.
  • Must possess a general understanding of beer, wine and spirits including specialty drinks.
  • Must be able to demonstrate superior customer service skills by presenting a friendly, relaxed, and professional demeanor, ability to manage multiple tasks with attention to detail while meeting business demands.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively in English, both in spoken and written form.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with guests and other Team Members of different backgrounds and levels of experience.
  • Must be able to work varied shifts, including nights, weekends and holidays.

Must be able to:

  • Lift or carry 50 pounds, unassisted, in the performance of specific tasks, as assigned.
  • Physically access all areas of the property and drive areas with or without a reasonable accommodation.
  • Maintain composure under pressure and consistently meet deadlines with internal and external customers and contacts.
  • Ability to interact appropriately and effectively with guests, management, other team members, and outside contacts.
  • Ability for prolonged periods of time to walk, stand, stretch, bend and kneel.
  • Work in a fast-paced and busy environment.
  • Work indoors and/or outdoors and be exposed to various environmental factors such as, but not limited to, CRT, noise, dust, and cigarette smoke.
