Job description

Summary/Objective:

The Network Communications & Marketing Specialist is responsible for creating engaging content that supports Citizen Advocates and its affiliates through visual and written storytelling, multimedia production, online communications and content produced in support of messaging direction provided by Communications leadership. This role focuses on the development and execution of creative content across social media platforms, websites and digital communication channels, while producing content that supports employees, stakeholders, and community engagement efforts.

Reporting to the Network Director of Communications & Marketing, the Specialist collaborates closely with Communications leadership and departments across the Network to produce compelling photo, video, graphic, web and written content that informs, inspires and engages key audiences. The Specialist produces communications materials based on direction from Communication leadership to support organization priorities, culture, and brand consistency.

The Network Communications & Marketing Specialist is responsible for editing and filming video content, capturing photography, creating graphics and digital assets, managing website updates and producing content for social media and digital communications. In addition to content creation, this role participates in writing and editing communication materials including articles, web content, presentations, correspondence, reports and other organizational communications. This position also supports audio editing projects as needed and contributes to maintaining accessible, user-friendly and engaging digital experiences.

The Specialist must possess strong creative, technical, organizational and writing skills, with the ability to apply established creative guidelines to solve routine production challenges, while maintaining accuracy, timeliness and attention to detail. Working collaboratively with leaders and departments across the Network, this professional helps communicate important information, supports engagement efforts and promotes the Network's mission, culture and communication goals.

Essential Functions (Job Duties):

  • Create dynamic and engaging multimedia content for Citizen Advocates and its affiliates across social media platforms, websites and digital communication channels.
  • Write, edit and publish compelling content for internal and external audiences, including articles, website content, social media posts, newsletters, presentations, correspondence, reports and other organizational communications.
  • Film, edit and produce short-form and long-form video content for organizational storytelling, announcements, campaigns, events and community engagement initiatives.
  • Capture and edit photography for use in digital communications, websites, social media, presentations and marketing materials.
  • Design and produce digital and print creative assets including graphics, brochures, presentations, advertisements, signage and promotional materials.
  • Collaborate with Communications leadership and organizational departments to develop and execute content, under the direction of Communications leadership, that supports organizational priorities, employee engagement, and community awareness.
  • Help communicate organizational initiatives, accomplishments, milestones and key messages in an engaging and inspiring manner that supports organizational culture and alignment.
  • Manage website content updates, landing pages and digital publishing across content management systems including WordPress, Squarespace, Square and similar platforms.
  • Write and edit engaging web and social media copy tailored to various audiences, communication channels and digital platforms while maintaining the organization's voice and brand standards.
  • Support search engine optimization (SEO) and AI optimization best practices to improve digital visibility and audience engagement.
  • Assist in monitoring and reporting website and social media analytics to evaluate content performance and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Ensure digital content and communications materials align with accessibility standards, including WCAG best practices for websites, social media, video and digital communications.
  • Maintain brand consistency across all visual and digital communications while supporting creative innovation and audience engagement.
  • Support internal and external events through multimedia coverage, including photography, video production and digital promotion.
  • Collaborate with the Communications Team to maintain content calendars, coordinate publishing schedules and ensure timely delivery of communications materials.
  • Support audio editing and production projects as needed, including interview, podcast or promotional audio content.
  • Applies current platform best practices as guided by the team.
