Job description

CNA's assist elderly or disabled clients in their homes with activities of daily living. These duties include preparing meals (may include special diet), mobility/transfer, bathing, grooming/dressing, reminding clients about medications, cleaning living area, laundry, shopping/errands, making client's bed and/or changing linens, encourage and educate clients, assisting clients in communication needs with doctors, transportation, etc. CNA's have to maintain records of services performed for each client.

CNA's will also assist clients in and out of bed, using a wheelchair, up and down stairs, and around their house using proper lifting techniques and support equipment for weight bearing clients. CNA's will also be responsible for universal precautions and preventing the spread of disease. CNA's must also be able to acknowledge an emergency situation and know when to contact 911.

CNA's may also provide advanced personal care tasks as needed for clients who have osotomies, lifts, assistance with non injectable medications, bowel programs, catheters, aseptic dressings, passive range of motion, and advanced respite needs.
