School Summary

Minnesota Connections Academy (MNCA) is a tuition-free, online public charter school for students in grades K-12 throughout Minnesota. MNCA is a member of the Minnesota Transitions Charter School (MTCS), a K-12 academic community. MNCA is a state-approved online program operated through a contract with Connections Academy of Minnesota, LLC, to provide the educational program and other services. MNCA is accredited by the North Central Association Commission on Accreditation and School Improvement, an accrediting division of AdvancED.

Position Summary and Responsibilities

Working from home while reporting to our office in St. Paul, Minnesota, the Assistant Principal will work collaboratively with the Executive Director. The Assistant Principal will work with the leadership team to manage all aspects of the schoolโ€™s operations.ย 

Other key responsibilities include the following:

  • Manage the implementation of the proven Connections Academy operational protocols;
  • Oversee student success including managing attendance indicators, academic performance, and participation in the program;
  • Act as instructional leader for families and staff;
  • Manage staff members through the Connections Academy performance appraisal system;
  • Support MNCA Leadership with implementation of various policies including, but not limited to MTSS, Truancy, State Testing, and Benchmark Testing;
  • Manage receipt, storage and maintenance of local student records;
  • Manage reconciliation between Connections Academyโ€™s data systems and state and local student information systems;
  • Work with MNCA Leadership to recruit, hire, and onboard new teaching staff;
  • Respond to grade-level concerns from parents and students;
  • Build strong relationships to support the individual growth of families, students, staff;
  • Stay current on the stateโ€™s policies, procedures and legislation;
  • All other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience
  • MN K-12 Principal License preferred
  • Relevant advanced degree is preferred, Education experience required
  • Ability to use and interpret data to understand student/teacher needs
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written
  • Demonstrated ability to work well in a fast-paced environment
  • Technologically proficient (especially with Microsoft Office products)
  • Experience in managing people is required
  • Must be able to use a personal electronic device and an email address for two-step authentication
