Position Summary
The Senior Financial Analyst will assist in the analysis of data, reporting and forecasting in the area of planning and budgeting at Southern Utah University. The Senior Financial Analyst will work closely with colleagues across the institution to understand their business processes and reporting needs, define key performance metrics, and identify trends and develop narratives from data. They will track operational data that measures these divisional activities, efficiency, and progress toward strategic
objectives.
Essential Functions
  • Discover, analyze, and interpret financial trends or patterns in complex datasets to perform strategic analysis and research
  • Produce analytical solutions (reports, dashboards, tools, etc.) for leadership and stakeholders
  • Assist campus departments with budget analysis and planning
  • Build and run models to determine optimal resource allocation, including variance analysis and reconciliation.
  • Assist with employee training related to budgeting and finance
  • Other duties as assigned.

Education & Experience
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelors Degree - Bachelor's degree in a finance related field such as accounting, finance, business management, or economics with four years of relevant work experience.
  • Bachelor's degree in unrelated area of study with six years of relevant work experience in role performing data analysis.
  • Proficient in Excel
  • Basic understanding of relational database tables

Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's Degree is relevant field
  • SQL Developer experience
