General responsibilities include keeping up with a high-volume patient shot clinic. You are also responsible for ensuring current records and general Allergy Clinic upkeep. This position will also require a good knowledge of insurance due to the high volume of patients and repeat patients.
Essential Job Responsibilities:
- Administer various types of injections and know when each is necessary. i.e. โsub-Q, intra-muscular, intra-dermal, etc.
- Allergy Related Duties (approximately 80% of time; may vary based upon volume and practice needs):
- Mix and accurately prepare allergy antigen vials for injections.
- Perform monthly maintenance of serums and records; pull expired paperwork, insurances, etc.
- Test and treat patients for allergy- related problems in a caring manner.
- Allergy Administrative responsibilities, i.e., phone call and voicemail retrieval & documentation, allergy testing scheduling, benefits and eligibility verifications, referral and prior authorization requests, and follow-up.
- Responsible for accurately maintaining allergy supplies and inventories in a timely manner.
- Responsible for weekly maintenance of allergy testing equipmentย ย
- Performs other related allergy duties as required.
- Administer shots by following the prescribed protocol, check shot record history, examine patientโs well-being, document allergy shot reaction, and dosage information appropriately in the chart, and start next patient on a timely basis without over-involving conversationally with the patient on anything more than a casual basis.
- Ensures that all equipment in the exam room is clean and ensures proper function and set up prior to each patient encounter.
- Ensures mixing and testing solutions are adequate.
- Checks emergency kit and crash cart (if applicable).
- Cleans and restocks examining rooms for the dayโs use.
- Performs other related clinical duties as required.
