Job description

Position: Accounting Assistant (Construction)
Location: Manassas, VA (In Person)
Job Type: Full-Time
Salary: $65,000 – $80,000 per year, based on experience


About the Role

This position supports day-to-day accounting operations with a focus on accuracy, organization, and execution. You will work closely with our Accounting Specialist to ensure job cost data, payroll, and financial records are accurate and up to date across all projects.


Key Responsibilities

Assist with entry of vendor invoices, purchase orders, and job cost coding in Sage

Support accounts payable and accounts receivable processes through data entry and documentation

Assist with client invoicing and billing support as directed

Support weekly payroll processing, including time entry and tracking employee hours

Assist with certified payroll reporting and compliance requirements

Maintain organized and accurate financial and job records

Track receipts, expenses, and job-related costs across multiple projects

Communicate with internal teams to gather job and cost information

Support the Accounting Specialist with daily accounting tasks and workload

Identify and flag discrepancies or missing information in job cost or payroll data

Maintain professional and collaborative communication with team members


Qualifications

Experience with Sage or similar accounting software preferred

Prior experience in construction accounting or job cost environments strongly preferred

Experience with payroll processing, certified payroll experience is a major plus

Strong attention to detail and organizational skills

Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines

Comfortable working with multiple departments and field teams
