Job description

Staff / Underwriting Accountant Description

· Completes general accounting functions, including research, report/spreadsheet preparation, and analysis.

· Updates client/agent billing information in the underwriting system.

· Applies payments to client accounts.

· Researches and corrects payment issues (checks and credit cards).

· Answers billing-related phone calls from clients/agents.

· Prepares and analyzes accounting data by processing and interpreting accounts such as general ledgers and sub-ledgers.

· Reviews, investigates and corrects errors and inconsistencies in financial entries and reports.

· Carries out ad hoc reports/assignments as needed.

· Develops and maintains strong working relationships with internal departments.

· Other tasks as assigned by management.

Qualifications

· 1-3 years accounting experience

· General understanding and working knowledge of US GAAP

· Experience using MS Excel and Word

· Experience with QuickBooks is a plus

· Ability to work effectively under pressure.
