Job description

Summary

Provides hands-on daily work of machine assembly operations.  Will work under limited supervision from the Repair Center Supervisor.  Reads and interprets blueprints and engineering instructions.  Uses hand tools, power tools, measuring devices and electromechanical equipment.

Education and Experience

High school graduate or GED preferred plus trade knowledge equivalent to completion of an apprenticeship program.  Typically has 5+ years of machine assembly experience.  Some experience as a working supervisor preferred.

Principal Duties

  1. Day to day responsibility for disassembly Inspection, documentation, balancing, assembly and testing of all machines processed through the repair department.
  2. Read and follow proper shop procedures. Must ensure all drawings, Engineering bulletins and any other type documentation is available and followed while executing basic assembly, test setups and fixtures
  3. Works from engineering drawings, specifications and verbal instructions.
  4. Interface with customer's on occasional review of repairs while protecting Andritz confidential information.
  1. Well organized, able to read O.D./I.D Micrometer and other measuring tools to insure dimensions are accurate.  Organize disassembly and reassembly pictures. Good writing skills when describing root cause or reporting information to assist in quote preparation.
  2. Following the Quality Plan and assuring that Andritz Separation proper procedure and sign off duties are followed before any product shipment.
  3. Performs skilled fitting where prescribed tolerances are exacting and difficult to attain and meets all established quality standards.
  4. Interprets Production Order instructions.
  5. Plans assembly methods and procedures to assure efficient and timely progress. Ensure accurate time is charged to each production order and each operation is completed in SAP and forwarded to the next work center.
  6. Troubleshooting of machines. It will be common to have a machine on the test stand and have to troubleshoot high vibration, temperature, noise, etc.

  8. Will understand delivery commitments and will plan accordingly to meet these scheduled commitments while understanding the company objective to meet a 90%+ annual on-time delivery criteria.
  9. Follows all safety rules and regulations.  Keeps work area clean and organized.
  10. Maintains hand tools and plant equipment in good condition and reports all broken tools.
  11. Ensure 5s procedures are implemented; maintained and scheduling goals are met.
  12. Provides feedback to Production Manager regarding performance issues.  Suggests improvements to work process.  Communicates with Production Manager and Department Lead Men to resolve production issues.
  13. Maintain organization of department and will perform regular preventive maintenance schedules on equipment.

Specialized Job Skills

Must be able to use most hand tools and have well developed mechanical aptitude.  Must have ability to use precision measuring instruments and the ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and blueprints.  Machinist skills. Experience in maintenance of rotating equipment and gear box repair a plus.

Physical Demands

The physical demands of this position require the ability to walk, sit or stand for long periods of time. Must be physically able to lift a minimum of 75 pounds and have the dexterity to bend and stoop for long periods of time.  Make visual inspections with precise hand and finger movements, with reasoning and problem solving ability.
