Job description

R & D Paving is looking for an experienced Asphalt Paving FOREMAN to join our team. Must have experience in the paving industry.

Responsibilities include:

  • Have a thorough and complete knowledge and understanding of the overall project
  • Identify pre-mobilization activities and plan accordingly
  • Meet with Project Manager to go over project information
  • Communicate issues, events, performance, and progress. Report any problems promptly in an effort to facilitate the most cost-effective solutions.
  • Maintain project schedules and ensure that work performed is consistent with the contract and will meet or exceed client expectations.
  • Ensure that all materials and equipment delivered to the project are in compliance with approved submittals and shop drawings.
  • Ensure that all items scheduled for inspections are pre-inspected for compliance
  • Identify any potential additional work that would require change orders and communicate to Project team
  • Review projects daily to ensure that all activities are being performed in accordance with the project's site-specific safety plan, in addition to OSHA or other governing body standards.
  • Confirm all subcontractors are adhering to safety standards
  • Identify safety issues and make all necessary corrections
  • Complete daily reports (time sheets) and maintain logs of key activities, files and shop drawings.
  • Recommend staff development needs, disciplinary actions, job assignments and promotions
  • Field measure and submit quantities for pay applications monthly

Requirements/Skills:

  • Experience managing a team of 5+ employees
  • 5-10 years experience managing total execution of large construction projects (preferred)
  • Experience and knowledge of construction means and methods, project administration, and a thorough understanding of industry practices
  • Strategic planning and organizational skills
  • Provide leadership as part of a changing environment
  • Demonstrated ability to provide positive impact on field operations.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Team player with willingness to handle additional responsibilities as needed.
