Position Summary Information
Position Summary
Slippery Rock University of Pennsylvania invites applicants for a temporary, part-time, full-year Instructor in its History Department. We are seeking an historian of Asian History to teach a 2-2 load (2 different courses each semester). In addition to World History survey courses, the instructor should be able to teach courses on modern China and Japan, the modern Asian Pacific rim, and East Asian military traditions. There may be an opportunity to develop another course in the candidates area of specialization. All courses are delivered in-person.
Minimum Qualifications
ABD in History with a focus on Asian History (especially modern Japanese and/or Chinese history). Commitment to the education of diverse populations. Successful performance in an interview and teaching demonstration.
Preferred Qualifications
Ph.D. in History, with a focus on Asian History (especially Japanese and/or Chinese history) during the Modern Era. Previous college-level teaching experience preferred. Ability and/or experience teaching online and a demonstrated track record of engaging students beyond the classroom.
