Job description

Ellwood Specialty Metals (ESM-USA) is a fully integrated producer of tool steels for plastic molds, die cast dies, forging dies and other tooling applications. We utilize ASEA-SKF primary melting, refining and degassing equipment along with ESR and VAR processes to manufacture premium steel ingots. ESM-USA is also a fully integrated producer of Aluminum in large diameter ingot and billet, rectangular slab, and cast plate manufacturing, including forging of aluminum bars, hollows and blocks.

Position Summary:
The Outside Sales Representative will drive growth in both aluminum and steel product lines by developing new customer relationships while strengthening and expanding existing accounts. This role is highly customerfacing and requires a proactive, energetic individual who excels at uncovering new opportunities, solving customer challenges, and representing ELLWOOD Specialty Metals professionally in the field. This position will report to the Director of Sales.

 Key Responsibilities:

  • New Business Development: Identify, pursue, and secure new customers across assigned territories and market segments.
  • Account Management: Maintain and grow existing customer relationships through consistent communication, followup, and valueadded service.
  • Customer Engagement: Conduct regular customer visits, both scheduled and adhoc, including onsite meetings, facility tours, and technical discussions.
  • Sales Outreach: Execute structured outreach through phone calls, virtual meetings, email followups, and inperson engagements to build a strong sales pipeline.
  • Opportunity Discovery: Proactively identify new applications, product needs, and market opportunities in aluminum and steel markets.
  • Travel & Field Activity: Maintain an active presence in the field to support customer needs, gather market intelligence, and strengthen relationships.
  • Trade Show Participation: Represent the company at planned trade shows, conferences, and industry events, assisting with setup, customer engagement, and lead followup.
  • Internal Collaboration: Partner with Inside Sales, Operations, Purchasing, and Leadership teams to ensure alignment on pricing, delivery expectations, and customer requirements.
  • Reporting & Forecasting: Provide timely updates on sales activity, opportunities, market trends, and competitive insights.
  • Conduct all sales activities with honesty, integrity, and professionalism, maintaining compliance with company policies and applicable laws.
  • Participate actively in following and promoting the company’s values, mission, and safety culture.
  • Perform other duties as deemed necessary.

Qualifications:

  • 3- 5 Years sales experience in metals (aluminum and/ or steel) preferred.
  • 2-year college degree or greater industry experience.
  • Knowledge of metal types, grades, and applications strongly preferred.
  • Professional proficiency in English (written and verbal) required for effective communication with clients and internal teams.
  • Ability to read basic blueprints or material specifications a plus.
  • Demonstrated commitment to ethical business practices and sound judgment.
  • Strong negotiation, communication, and relationship-building skills.
  • Selfmotivated, organized, and comfortable working independently in the field.
  • Ability to travel regularly for customer visits and trade shows.
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
  • Problemsolving mindset with a drive to convert opportunities into revenue.
  • Preference for candidates to have residence based in or in close proximity to the sales region to support frequent client visits.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office products.
  • Familiarity with ERP software a plus.

    Work Environment

    •  Field-based role with frequent local travel to customer sites.
    • Combination of office/remote work and time spent in industrial environments (e.g., warehouses, fabrication shops).
