Job description

Job Summary:
The Field Service Representative (FSR) is a key role within the American Rheinmetall Vehicles (ARV) team focused on ensuring that U.S. Government testing of Rheinmetall products is safe, per the test schedule, per the test plan, and exceed the customer's expectation for quality. The Field Service Representative (FSR) will support the daily maintenance actions and repairs of test vehicle platforms. This role includes duties, but not limited to, within ARV's Field Service Section for all maintenance related activities at U.S. Government and civilian test sites and ARV locations. The locations will be located at but not limited to Aberdeen, MD, Auburn Hills MI, Yuma, AZ, White sands missile range, NM, FT. Hood TX, Hattiesburg MS, and other US test sites as required.
Essential Functions:
  • Lead field rework efforts and rework teams in various locations.
  • Support test site operations to include, but not limited to on-site system support packages (spares), storage of spares, consumables, etc.
  • Support the development of work packages for test and maintenance of test assets.
  • Support and perform direct platform level troubleshooting and repairs to keep platform available for USG testing.
  • Support/Conduct vehicle repairs, maintenance, and upgrades in accordance with program requirements and schedules to ensure successful test outcomes.
  • Support ARV and USG Test personnel by providing status and progress in execution of vehicle maintenance and upgrade activities.
  • Work with FER's across the Rheinmetall landscape to support the building of maintenance field procedures and best practices in the ARV portfolio
  • Support and adhere to all company and USG safety and environmental regulations & policies
  • Undertake other duties as determined by management or his/her delegate

Supervisory Responsibilities:
Ability to lead team of FSR's in the field rework efforts
Minimum Qualifications:
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (as demonstrated through experience, training and/or testing)
  • Ability to be a self-starter and take direction from superiors, in the performance of day-to-day duties/responsibilities
  • Ability to use Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, etc.)
  • Knowledge of US Army maintenance procedures and operations and proven experience in maintenance operations on wheeled and tracked platforms.
  • Ability to work in a high pressure and highly visible work environment
  • Ability to work in a team environment
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, electrical schematics and other technical instructions that are provided by engineering
  • Ability to safely and proficiently use all basic mechanics tools
  • Familiarity with the US DoD ground vehicle requirements
  • Detailed knowledge in shop related Standards/ Processes
  • Ability to provide status in a clear, concise and accurate manner both verbally and in writing
  • Present mechanical solutions to clients and internal stakeholders

Education & Experience
  • Applicable/commensurate work experience
  • 4+ years Armored Vehicle operations/maintenance experience in any military ground combat vehicle MOS preferred
  • 5+ years Field Service/Engineer Representative (FSR/FER) at U.S. Government Test Site
  • Practical 'hands on' self-starter able to work independently with little on-site supervision while providing routine vehicle maintenance tasks and repairs.
  • Experience in Prototype Production and the transition to serial production.

Background Prerequisites:
  • Must undergo and meet company standards for background check, employment verification, reference checks and controlled substance testing.
  • All employment at ARV is contingent upon the ability to obtain and maintain a government security clearance if the position requires it.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Ability to speak German is desirable
  • Local to the FT. Hood area.
  • Mechanical Certs., A/C Certs. Electrical Certs, Prior service and/or related professional training.

Working Conditions and Physical Demands
With or without reasonable accommodations, requires the physical and mental capacity to perform effectively all essential functions. In addition to other demands, the demands of the job include:
  • Ability to lift up to 25 pounds occasionally
  • Ability to travel up to 60% of the time. Occasional travel to Europe will be necessary. Passport Required as well as real ID endorsed drivers license with no major infractions.
  • Ability to work extensive hours and multiple shifts as required.
  • Ability to use personal credit card for initial travel expenses with reimbursement within two weeks.
