Position Summary:
Arthur Center is looking for a Primary Care Physician (MD or DO) who is passionate about community health and ready to serve as a trusted healthcare entry point for patients across central Missouri. In this role, you will provide comprehensive, relationship-based primary care to a diverse patient population - from routine wellness visits and preventive care to chronic disease management and early illness intervention. Key Tasks and Responsibilities
Patient Care amp; Clinical Assessment
  • Serve as the primary healthcare entry point for patients presenting for routine checkups, preventive care, and early-stage illness management.
  • Conduct comprehensive patient assessments including complete medical histories and physical examinations.
  • Analyze diagnostic results and laboratory tests to determine accurate clinical diagnoses and develop personalized, evidence-based treatment plans.
  • Work with patients in crisis states presenting by phone or walk-in as needed.
Medication Management amp; Treatment
  • Prescribe medications and therapies appropriate to each patient's diagnosis and clinical needs.
  • Monitor treatment efficacy, watch for side effects, and adjust care plans accordingly.
  • Counsel patients on medication adherence, allergies, and safe medication practices.
Care Coordination amp; Collaboration
  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team including nurses, physician assistants, behavioral health clinicians, and specialists to coordinate seamless, high-quality patient care.
  • Coordinate referrals and follow-up care with internal and external providers as clinically appropriate.
  • Participate in staff meetings, quality improvement initiatives, and organizational committees as requested.
Documentation amp; Compliance
  • Maintain accurate, timely medical documentation in the electronic health record in compliance with all applicable legal and confidentiality standards including HIPAA.
  • Meet internal and external reporting requirements including data collection for quality improvement.
  • Perform other duties as requested by department leadership.
Required Qualifications:
  • MD or DO degree from an accredited medical school with an active, unrestricted medical license in the state of Missouri.
  • Completion of an accredited Primary Care residency program.
  • Board Certified preferred; Board Eligible considered.
  • Active DEA license with the ability to prescribe controlled substances, including buprenorphine, or willingness to obtain the necessary waiver.
  • Minimum of two to five years of directly applicable clinical experience preferred.
  • Active Medicaid numbers and NPI preferred.
