The Assistant Director of Ark Operations serves as a strategic partner to the Director of Operations and a vital bridge across the leadership team, ensuring the seamless daily execution of the Ark Encounter. Operating alongside both the Director and department managers, this role functions as a trusted resource, tactical integrator, and collaborative sounding board. It is fundamentally about building genuine trust, cultivating alignment, and helping departments optimize their systems to create a Christ-centered, family attraction that impacts guests with life-changing experiences.

The Assistant Director is an adaptive leader who excels at driving continuous improvement and team development through relationship and influence rather than direct reporting authority. This position champions a God-honoring culture, working together with managers to help them navigate operational challenges, eliminate system friction, and realize their full professional and spiritual potential.

  • Facilitate effective communication, ensuring managers and staff have the context they need, and the Director has accurate operational feedback from the team.
  • Work alongside department managers to continuously evaluate daily systems, tools, and workflows, helping them identify friction points and enact improvements.
  • Assist managers in researching process gaps and departmental needs, acting as a collaborative partner to formulate and present high-ROI recommendations to the Director of Operations
  • Conduct regular operational walk-throughs and calibrations alongside, or on behalf of, the Director to ensure compliance with SOPs and service standards.
  • Proactively identify physical touchpoint needs (e.g., signage, guest flow, facility conditions) and coordinate with the appropriate teams to maintain a seamless guest environment.
  • Collaborate with managers to review personnel allocation and material logistics, helping them balance exceptional customer service with efficient labor management.
  • Assist in the development and monthly evaluation of departmental revenue and expense budgets.
  • And all other duties and responsibilities assigned by management.
