Job description

The Dallas Opera is seeking a detail-oriented and highly organized Human Resources Assistant to join our team. In this role, you will support administrative and compliance initiatives within the Human Resources department, coordinate IT support through our third-party IT provider, and support general organizational needs.


This position is an annual hourly part-time position, with up to 30 hours/week. This position reports to the Human Resources Administrator.


Key Responsibilities:

Human Resources Administrative Support:

  • Assist with recruitment efforts by maintaining the candidate database, managing job postings, and coordinating interview schedules.
  • Support employee onboarding and offboarding by managing related communication, completing required documentation, and coordinating all necessary tasks
  • Support HR compliance efforts by maintaining accurate documentation for audits and regulatory requirements
  • Enter and update employee information in HR systems/HRIS and generate standard HR reports as needed, including benefits enrollments
  • Maintain up-to-date organizational documents (e.g., staff directory and related records)
  • Plan and execute employee recognition activities, events, and initiatives.


IT Support Coordination:

  • Serve as a point of contact for our third-party IT provider
  • Ensure timely resolution of helpdesk tickets, escalating issues as needed
  • Schedule and coordinate on-site IT support appointments
  • Monitor IT needs and work with the IT provider to ensure all staff members have the technology support they need
  • Manage inventory of company-owned technology and hardware, assigning and reclaiming as necessary
  • Handle other duties as assigned to ensure the efficient operations of the Human Resources team and the organization, as a whole


Qualifications:

  • Bachelorโ€™s degree in a related field preferred but not required
  • Minimum of 1โ€“2 years of human resources or related administrative experience
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to multitask, meet deadlines, and prioritize effectively in a fast-paced environment
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook); experience with HR software systems or willingness and ability to learn new systems
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to interact professionally and build positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders at all levels
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion and sound judgment
  • Availability to work evenings and weekends as needed during production season to support production staff and HR-related activities


Other Considerations:        

Compensation: $20-25 hourly, dependent on experience
