$121,300 - $148,300

This position reports to the Manager of Manufacturing Excellence. The incumbent will serve as a member of the Area Operational Team and will be responsible for sustaining and growing a culture of Manufacturing Excellence to deliver year-over-year cost reductions.
About The Role:
The key accountabilities listed below are not to be considered all-inclusive; a team member may be required to perform additional tasks, as directed, based on changing business needs of the company.
- Demonstrate leadership around safety, support broad-based participation in the mill's safety processes and procedures
- Provide leadership to the area operating team to focus on strategic cost reduction initiatives
- As the area owner of the Cost Reduction elements, the person in this position will:
- Lead the Cost Reduction Roadmap process in their area
- Assume area responsibility for:
- Cost reduction identification processes
- Strategy deployment
- Training and certifying Six Sigma White and Yellow belt (Manufacturing and Advance Problem Solving: MAPS) candidates
- Work closely with the finance department to develop annual and 5-year budgets
- Coordinate use of the Lean Six Sigma toolbox (Facilitation, Six Sigma, Kaizen, Advance Analytics) to address mill issues and capitalize on opportunities
- Champion resolution of area operating issues
- Develop and nurture a team-based organization committed to employee participation and teamwork
- Coach and mentor department process engineers, interns, and co-op job performance and career development
- Manage and control departmental costs within budget
- Provide support for project management and/or outage management during annual outages
Quality Expectations
- Ensure an understanding of quality policy and support efforts for a positive customer experience.
- Aid in the execution of mill-wide quality efforts as needed to help maintain mill quality standards.
About You: Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Chemical, Mechanical, Electrical, or Pulp & Paper engineering or related field highly preferred
- 4+ years' experience in a manufacturing setting (paper or chemical preferred)
- Lean Six Sigma Green Belt certification preferred
- Ability to excel with minimal supervision in a team environment
- Demonstrated written and verbal communication, problem solving, time management, conflict resolution, and task group facilitation skills
- Strong computer knowledge and skills that include experience with spreadsheets, word processing, and Minitab
