The BIM Coordinator leads and supports Building Information Modeling (BIM) and virtual construction efforts across multiple commercial construction projects. This role drives BIM modeling standards, virtual construction initiatives, project coordination, and field support activities, ensuring that models and deliverables align with project schedules, budgets, and scopes. The BIM Coordinator works closely with design teams, field management, and other project stakeholders to develop, coordinate, and maintain accurate BIM models that support design, planning, prefabrication, and installation. This position offers the opportunity to work on large, complex projects in the semiconductor and other advanced industries while gaining experience in sophisticated electrical construction environments.

Responsibilities

  • Lead BIM and virtual construction efforts across multiple projects, ensuring alignment with project schedules, budgets, and scopes.
  • Develop and maintain detailed Revit models to support design, coordination, fabrication, and construction activities.
  • Create and manage project views, sheets, schedules, filters, and model organization structures within Revit and related platforms.
  • Translate marked-up drawings, sketches, and engineering documents into construction-ready models and drawings.
  • Coordinate BIM models across multiple disciplines and trades to support clash detection and constructability reviews.
  • Support prefabrication and field installation efforts through accurate layout, dimensioned modeling, and coordinated drawings.
  • Collaborate closely with project managers, engineers, project coordinators, and field teams throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Manage Revit worksharing environments, including worksets and collaborative project workflows.
  • Lead virtual construction and laser scanning initiatives, including point cloud coordination and existing-condition modeling.
  • Coordinate the development and delivery of 3D models generated from laser scan data.
  • Train and mentor BIM modelers in Revit, Navisworks, AutoCAD, and BIM best practices.
  • Assist in developing and implementing company-wide BIM standards, workflows, and quality control procedures.
  • Participate in digital layout activities utilizing model-based construction technologies and Total Station equipment.
  • Maintain project documentation, model archives, and electronic drawing management systems.
  • Support project teams with cloud-based document management and collaboration platforms.
  • Perform additional BIM, Virtual Design and Construction (VDC), and project support duties as needed.
  • Serve as a liaison between the office and field teams, ensuring that BIM models accurately reflect field conditions and installation requirements.

Essential Skills

  • Proficiency in Revit for developing and maintaining detailed models for design, coordination, fabrication, and construction.
  • Hands-on experience with Navisworks for model coordination and clash detection.
  • Experience with BIM 360 or similar cloud-based BIM and construction document management platforms.
  • Strong electrical drafting and modeling experience within BIM environments.
  • Ability to interpret and translate marked-up drawings, sketches, and engineering documents into construction-ready models and drawings.
  • Experience working with construction drawings and construction documents in a commercial construction environment.
  • Knowledge of Revit MEP workflows, particularly for electrical systems.
  • Experience coordinating models across multiple disciplines and trades for constructability and field installation.
  • Familiarity with virtual construction and laser scanning workflows, including point cloud coordination.
  • Ability to manage Revit worksharing environments, worksets, and collaborative project workflows.
  • Strong understanding of BIM standards, workflows, and quality control procedures.
  • Ability to train and mentor others in Revit, Navisworks, AutoCAD, and BIM best practices.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills for working with project managers, engineers, coordinators, and field teams.
  • Attention to detail and accountability for delivering accurate, coordinated models and documentation.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience working with electrical contractors or on electrically focused commercial construction projects.
  • Background in large, complex projects such as those in the semiconductor or advanced technology industries.
  • Experience with digital layout tools and Total Station equipment in a construction setting.
  • Familiarity with electronic drawing management systems and model archive processes.
  • Experience supporting prefabrication workflows through detailed modeling and coordination.
  • Exposure to virtual construction initiatives and VDC practices.
  • Interest in contributing to the development and refinement of company-wide BIM standards and processes.
  • Ability to work effectively across multiple project locations and teams.

Work Environment

The BIM Coordinator works primarily in an office-based environment with strong mentorship and support from experienced team members. The role involves close collaboration with the design team and onsite electricians, ensuring that models accurately support field installation and construction activities. The position offers the flexibility to work in multiple locations, including offices in Portland and Seattle, depending on project needs.
