Job description

Your Role
As a Technical Designer with Gensler's team in Charlotte you will contribute to the design and delivery of impactful projects in the region. You will bring together design excellence, technical rigor, and strategic thinking to deliver architecture that is both deeply functional and experientially rich. You will work within a highly collaborative, client-focused culture that values design quality, resilience, and social purpose.
What You Will Do
  • Collaborate with a team of Architects and Interior Designers that bring design dreams to life through innovative problem solving and design best practices
  • Produce technical documentation and communicate project progress to team members to ensure success
  • Design and deliver functional and beautiful spaces for our clients
  • Develop drawings, details, and diagrams using Revit, and other tools as needed
  • Support all phases of the design project from conceptual/schematic design through construction administration
  • Support coordination with consultants, contractors, fabricators, specification writers, and regulatory agencies to meet overall project objectives
  • Participate in construction administration, evaluate bids, conduct site visits, address technical issues, and maintain quality control during construction
  • Utilize hand drawings and 3D software renderings to communicate design concepts

Your Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Architecture from an accredited program
  • 3-6 years of relevant experience within a commercial design firm
  • Knowledge of building codes, zoning, jurisdictional processes, building materials, specifications, and construction techniques is preferred
  • Experience with all phases of the design process from schematic design through construction administration, and field observation is preferred
  • Strong proficiency with Revit
  • Proficiency with SketchUp, Enscape, or other 3D modeling software, and the Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop) is preferred
  • Strong verbal and written communication, organization, and collaboration skills
  • Passion for design excellence and continuous learning
  • Demonstrated commitment to resilience and sustainable building practices
