Why This Role Matters


 As the Senior Architect in our Phoenix office, you'll play a crucial role in solidifying and growing Shive-Hattery's presence in the Government Buildings market in the Phoenix area.


You will strengthen existing relationships while identifying and fostering new opportunities in the area. The ideal candidate will have a mix of Business Development experience, paired with Project Leadership experience, and will help us continue to build the presence of Shive-Hattery in the Government Buildings marketplace.


What You'll Do 

  • Serve as the primary Architectural representative in the Phoenix community for Shive-Hattery.
  • Collaborate with Market Leader and Business Unit Director to identify and pursue project opportunities in the Government Buildings Market.
  • Candidate will actively lead the design and project management of complex projects with a high degree of focus on federal, justice, and civic projects.
  • As a licensed design professional, you will direct non-licensed and other professionals assigned to design, produce, and coordinate the design process and technical documents. 
  • You will attend project and client meetings acting as the representative of Shive-Hattery.
  • A thorough understanding of architectural specifications, local, state, and federal building codes, life safety codes, and current ADA requirements is required.  
  • Candidates should be adept at designing with a strong understanding of building systems and have experience in designing projects of varying scale and complexity within the federal and civic sectors.  

Requirements

  • Proven track record of leading successful Government Buildings projects.
  • Successful applicants must complete have completed an accredited professional degree program with either a bachelor's or master's degree in architecture, or equivalent education and experience.
  • Licensure in AZ, or the ability to become licensed in AZ is required.
  • Candidate should have a proven track record of outward facing business development and a willingness to engage with potential future clients.
  • 7+ years experience working in a multidisciplinary team to deliver complex projects.

  • Demonstrate the leadership skills necessary to strengthen and support the performance and culture 
  • As a self-motivated individual, the candidate excels in independent problem-solving and possesses excellent communication skills.  
  • Proficiency in Autodesk Revit and Microsoft Office is necessary. Familiarity with AutoCAD, Google SketchUp and the Adobe Suite is beneficial. 
  • Must have a strong can-do attitude with excellent problem-solving skills.
  • Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Must be collaborative and have positive/effective team building skills and mentoring skills.

This position is primarily performed in an office or hybrid environment and may require travel to project sites, other Shive-Hattery office locations or to meet with clients.
