During the internship, individuals gain practical experience by working under the supervision of licensed architects, assisting with design projects, drafting, research, and site visits. This hands-on training helps interns develop their technical and creative skills, build a professional network, and fulfill experience requirements for licensure. Architectural internships are often a critical step toward becoming a licensed architect.

You'll often collaborate closely with architects, engineers, and project managers, gaining exposure to real-world workflows and industry software. Many firms encourage interns to participate in team meetings and client presentations, which offers valuable insight into project communication and coordination.
