Position Overview
We are seeking an organized, proactive Assistant Project Manager (Design & Construction) to support the delivery of new-build projects across healthcare, educational (K-12 and higher education), recreational, library, and multifamily portfolios. The APM will assist Project Managers in coordinating design and construction activities, tracking schedules and budgets, managing contractor and consultant communications, ensuring quality and compliance, and facilitating successful project closeout. This role requires hands-on construction knowledge, strong communication skills, and the ability to work across multiple project types and stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities

  • Support Project Managers in planning, scheduling, and monitoring project progress across multiple active projects.
  • Assist with development and maintenance of project budgets, forecasts, and cost tracking; review invoices and change orders for accuracy.
  • Coordinate construction communications including engineers, consultants, contractors, owners, and vendors.
  • Prepare, review, and track RFIs, submittals, shop drawings, and documentation to ensure timely response and compliance with contract requirements.
  • Conduct regular site visits to monitor construction progress, quality, safety practices, and adherence to project specifications; document findings and follow up on corrective actions.
  • Support procurement activities including bidding, subcontractor evaluation, purchase orders, and material lead-time tracking.
  • Assist in permitting, inspections, and regulatory compliance work (building codes, ADA, life-safety, healthcare-specific requirements).
  • Maintain project schedules (baseline and lookahead), identify critical-path items, and support mitigation plans to keep projects on track.
  • Support development and review of contract documents, scopes of work, and change order documentation; assist in negotiations as directed.
  • Coordinate and facilitate client and stakeholder meetings, prepare meeting minutes, progress reports, and presentation materials.
  • Support project closeout processes including punch-list management, turnover documentation, as-built drawings, warranties, and training for facility staff.
  • Promote safety and quality on-site; help enforce company and client safety policies and support incident reporting and corrective actions.
  • Utilize construction and project management software to maintain project records, contracts, and communications (e.g., Procore, Bluebeam, MS Project, BIM tools where applicable).

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil/Architectural Engineering, Architecture, or related field, or equivalent work experience.
  • 3+ years of construction or project management experience supporting construction projects $20MM+; experience across one or more of these markets is strongly preferred: healthcare, K-12 schools, higher education, recreational facilities, libraries, and multifamily.
  • Demonstrated understanding of construction means and methods, contract administration, change management, and closeout procedures.
  • Familiarity with applicable codes and regulations (local building codes, ADA, IBC, NFPA; healthcare life-safety standards a plus).
  • Experience with project management and construction platforms such as Procore, Bluebeam, MS Project, and/or BIM coordination tools.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with experience preparing reports, meeting minutes, and client-facing documents.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities, work independently and as part of a team, and maintain attention to detail under tight schedules.
  • Valid driver's license and willingness to travel to project sites as required.
