Central Plumbing, Heating, Excavation (Central) is seeking a motivated Sheet Metal Apprentice who is currently enrolled in a recognized sheet metal apprenticeship program and looking to continue developing their skills with a growing, employee-owned commercial contractor that values training, mentorship, and long-term career growth.

As a Sheet Metal Apprentice at Central, you will continue developing skills in:

  • Planning and layout of commercial sheet metal systems

  • Fabrication, installation, and repair of ductwork and related components

  • Reading and interpreting blueprints and specifications

  • Applying math and measurement skills accurately in the field

  • Safe operation of tools, equipment, and machinery

  • Working as part of a crew alongside experienced journeymen

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform sheet metal installation and fabrication tasks under the guidance of journeymen

  • Actively participate in required classroom education and apprenticeship coursework

  • Accurately track and complete required on the job training hours

  • Maintain a safe, organized, and professional job site

  • Uphold Central’s safety standards, core values, and quality expectations

Qualifications:

  • Currently enrolled in a sheet metal apprenticeship program

  • Strong work ethic and commitment to completing apprenticeship requirements

  • Demonstrated commitment to jobsite safety, safe work practices, and a willingness to learn

  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints with guidance

  • Strong math skills and mechanical aptitude

  • GED or High School Diploma

  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ability to walk, climb, lift, and carry materials and tools weighing up to 50 pounds, and perform physical labor

  • Frequent standing, bending, reaching, pushing, and pulling

  • Frequent overhead work

  • Ability to work on ladders, lifts, scaffolding, and confined spaces for extended periods

  • Visual and auditory acuity required for active construction environments
