The Project: Mace is seeking a full-time Senior Project Manager to lead the delivery of a high-profile,multimilliondollar seismic retrofit and full refurbishment of an occupied historic building in Pacific Heights, San Francisco for a European federal government client.

The project is currently in construction and is characterized by:

  • Seismic upgrade and sensitive refurbishment of a landmark historic structure
  • Delivery within a live, operational, and occupied environment
  • Stringent security, access, and compliance requirements
  • Multiphased construction with complex logistics and approvals
  • Coordination with federal stakeholders and public utilities

The role is client-facing and positioned as an Owner's Representative, responsible for safeguarding quality, safety, schedule, cost, and security outcomes through to completion.

This role suits an individual who thrives in complex, high-trust environments, combining strong on-site construction leadership with polished client-facing capability.

The successful candidate will join a high-energy and rapidly expanding consultancy team and will have the opportunity to leverage their network to contribute to business development and growth activities.

You'll Be Responsible For:

  • Championing safety first, ensuring HSE compliance.
  • Acting as on-site client representative.
  • Building strong stakeholder relationships across teams.
  • Managing multidisciplinary teams to deliver outcomes.
  • Managing contracts, risks, changes and performance.
  • Overseeing budgets, value engineering and cost control.
  • Integrating schedules, mitigate risks and drive governance.
  • Coordinating delivery, closeout and continuous improvement.

You'll Need To Have:

  • Strong San Francisco/Bay Area industry network with demonstrated experience in business development, work winning, or client relationship development activities, especially within historic, civic, cultural, institutional, or government environments.
  • Strong San Francisco/Bay Area construction market knowledge, including inspectors, utilities, and entitlement pathways.
  • Experience interfacing with PG&E and local authorities having jurisdiction (AHJs) on live construction projects.
  • Membership of RICS, CIOB, APM, ICE or equivalent demonstrable professional or personal development.  
  • Project management institute (PMI) certification or program management certification.
  • 8 years of client-facing project leadership experience, including delivery of $50m construction projects within historic, civic, cultural, institutional, or government environments.
  • Proficiency in project management tools; MS Project or P6, cost/controls basics, and common data environments (SharePoint, Procore, Aconex, ACC/BIM 360, or similar).
  • Tertiary qualifications in a related field such as project management and/or construction related discipline (MS preferred), or equivalent professional experience/apprenticeship, combined with a demonstrable intermediate level of role knowledge. 

Please Note: The estimated salary for this position is between $140,000 - $170,000. Starting salary may vary based on permissible, non-discriminatory factors such as experience, skills and qualifications.
