Job description
JOB INFORMATION The Apprenticeship Instructor provides high quality instruction in assigned apprenticeship courses and supports student success through effective teaching, assessment, and industry aligned curriculum. The position also performs designated Joint Apprenticeship and Training Committee (JATC) coordination duties, including communication, documentation, and compliance support. As a fulltime faculty member, the role participates in division and college activities that advance Career and Technical Education programs and maintains strong partnerships with industry.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES Instructional Program Responsibilities Participates in curriculum development and recommends course outline revisions based on JATC input and industry standards Recommends textbooks, instructional materials, equipment, and relevant library or reference resources Contributes suggestions for the annual department budget related to instructional needs and program equipment Maintains current knowledge of technological changes, industry practices, and developments in the instructional subject area Attends meetings and participates in designated committee work; represents the department and CTE Division at pertinent college meetings and outreach events as required Promotes a positive image of the college and apprenticeship programs to students, industry partners, and the community Develops and maintains effective working relationships with Training Agents, JATC members, community partners, and professional organizations Engages in ongoing professional development as a lifelong learner Instruction Instructs apprenticeship classes and seminars using discipline expertise and effective teaching practices that support student learning and progression Meets all scheduled and special classes, including evenings and occasional weekends as required by program needs Teaches assigned classes following approved course outlines and JATC aligned curriculum requirements Prepares, develops, and updates instructional materials for assigned classes Posts and maintains regular office hours for student support Provides students with course syllabi that meet college and program requirements Maintains accurate records of grades, attendance, and apprentice progression; submits required reports in accordance with college and JATC timelines Maintains instructional facilities, tools, and equipment related to assigned program responsibilities Delivers instruction in a variety of modalities to meet program and student needs including face-to-face, remote, hybrid, and/or online JATC Coordination Coordinates apprentice progression processes, including evaluations, attendance verification, and related documentation required by the JATC and state apprenticeship standards Maintains accurate and timely records of apprentice performance, training hours, and committee-required reports Communicates regularly with JATC members, Training Agents, and apprentices to support program expectations, policies, and alignment with industry needs. Minimum Qualifications Journey-level status in the relevant trade, demonstrated by completion of a registered apprenticeship program or equivalent industry credential -AND- Current Oregon licensure or certification required for practice in the trade (e.g., CCB license, BOLI license, or trade-specific state license) -AND- Three years of recent, relevant industry experience in the trade area, which may include field work, trade-related management, and/or instruction in the trade -AND- Experience providing instruction, training, or skills-based mentoring in a workplace, apprenticeship, or educational setting Core Competencies Knowledge Knowledge of trade practices, industry standards, and current technologies relevant to the instructional area Knowledge of apprenticeship training models, including progression, evaluation, and competency-based instruction Knowledge of safety regulations, codes, and best practices applicable to the trade Knowledge of effective instructional strategies for adult learners, including applied and hands-on learning approaches Knowledge of learning management systems (LMS) and instructional technologies used to support teaching and learning Skills Skill in delivering clear, accurate, and engaging instruction that supports apprentice progression and skill development Skill in developing, organizing, and updating instructional materials aligned with approved course outlines and JATC requirements Skill in maintaining accurate records, documentation, and reports related to instruction, attendance, and apprentice progression Skill in using and demonstrating industry-standard tools, equipment, and technologies safely and effectively Skill in communicating technical information to diverse audiences, including apprentices, Training Agents, and JATC members Abilities Ability to create an inclusive, respectful, and supportive learning environment for diverse adult learners Ability to adapt teaching methods and materials to meet varying learning styles, modalities, and program needs Ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues, JATC members, Training Agents, and college personnel Ability to interpret and apply apprenticeship standards, policies, and program requirements Ability to manage multiple instructional and coordination responsibilities while meeting deadlines and compliance expectations Ability to represent the program and college professionally in meetings, outreach, and industry interactions Preferred Qualifications Teaching experience at a community college or in an adult-education/apprenticeship setting Experience delivering instruction in multiple modalities (e.g., face-to-face, hybrid, remote, and/or online) Experience working with Joint Apprenticeship and Training Committees (JATCs), Training Agents, or state apprenticeship systems Experience developing or revising curriculum aligned with industry standards or apprenticeship training requirements Experience using learning management systems (LMS) and instructional technologies to support student learning Experience working with diverse adult learners, including nontraditional, first-generation, or underrepresented students in Career and Technical Education programs Bilingual English/Spanish or multilingual proficiency relevant to the student population ADDITIONAL INFORMATION TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT This is a 100%, 12-month faculty assignment of the F2 band and grade All positions at Chemeketa are required to be available for work onsite as requested by the college. Requires flexible work schedule based upon program needs which includes some evening and weekend work and/or travel; in-state and out-of-state meetings, conferences, institutes, training and/or other meeting attendance as required
