Job description

General Summary:
Performs highly diversified duties to troubleshoot, maintain electrical systems including electronic controls for machines, and work on the upgrading of manufacturing equipment which includes rewriting programs to better meet production needs according to safety, predictive and productive maintenance systems and processes to achieve business goals and objectives.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Develop and maintain electrical control systems, robotics, and communication networks for machines and manufacturing processes
  • Write, edit, and improve PLC programs for new and existing equipment
  • Document and record all changes made to PLC programs including reasons for change
  • Provide high level troubleshooting for all controls and electrical systems
  • Modify and develop HMI/SCADA/ applications
  • Manage Historian and Production Reports
  • Mentor maintenance department
  • Participate and lead various projects
  • Assist in the organization and implementation of the maintenance department's electrical preventative maintenance program.
  • Install and calibrate process control instrumentation with PLC control systems.
  • Plan, prioritize, coordinate, and schedule electrical maintenance with supervision and operations input.
  • Read and update changes made to blueprints, P&ID's, single-lines, ladder logic, and wiring schematics using CAD software.
  • Provide emergency/unscheduled electrical repairs of production equipment during production times and perform scheduled maintenance repairs of production equipment during machine service.
  • Independently prioritize daily work orders/assignments while balancing daily breakdowns.
  • Excellent communication, facilitation and influencing skills with a demonstrated ability to build relationships within the facility and teams

Qualifications:
  • An Associate's Degree in an electrical or technical field and strong knowledge of industrial electrical normally acquired through three (3) to five (5) years of experience in a similar position required.
  • 3 or more years of system programming experience including: PLC ladder logic, HMI screens, data collection, PLC networking, motor drives, and servo motion control
  • Proven knowledge of electrical concepts in hydraulics and pneumatics required.
  • Ability to do a failure analysis.
  • Ability to retrofit relay-based control systems with PLC and VFD system integration, install and program VFD drives and integration into PLC's, and VFD and PLC integration on LAN system.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical blue prints and schematics.
  • Knowledge in electo-mechanical, servo controls, VFD and PLC diagnosis.
  • Must be highly motivated, self-directed and able to work independently.
  • Ability to work on a fast-paced environment.
  • Must be willing to work side-by-side with Mechanics through any type of machine breakdown.
  • Ability to read and interpret equipment manuals and work orders to perform required maintenance and service
  • Excellent technical and operational knowledge of mechanical electrical and automated equipment and systems
  • Strong aptitude for repair and maintenance activities:
    • Rockwell RSLogix (500, 5000), Studio 5000, Siemens STEP 7, Factorytalk View ME and SE, Inductive Automation Ignition, Siemens Simatic WinCC, RSView 32 (ME, SE), RSNetworx, Panelbuilder 32, Asset Centre, RSlinx, CCW, Vantage Point (excel add ins), Excelsius, AutoCAD or equivelant, Windows (XP, 2000 Professional, 7-11) Windows Office Suite, Ignition.
