WBS, a subsidiary of WEC Energy Group, is seeking an IT Applications Analyst - Energy Management and Market Solutions in our Green Bay, Wisconsin location. This position currently offers flexibility for a hybrid work arrangement (remote/on-site) with time regularly spent in the Green Bay office.
This position is part of a job family (Associate IT Applications Analyst, IT Applications Analyst, and Senior IT Applications Analyst) where experience will be the determining factor. If you are currently in this Job Family, it will be a lateral move.

Job Summary
The IT Applications Analyst position will support our energy management system within the Energy Management and Market Solutions (EMMS) group. The Applications Analyst will work closely with real-time control centers and business departments to maintain accurate configurations and system information within the energy management system. Responsibilities include the development, support, and quality control of energy management system applications and energy market network and financial system models. This position designs, develops, documents, implements, and supports solutions for control center and related business requirements. Discovers and analyzes issues with energy management system configuration and data as well as SCADA communications and field equipment as necessary.
Job Responsibilities
  • Supports computer systems, software applications, databases and tools. Analyzes error conditions, identifies potential causes of problems, utilizes root cause analysis techniques, and looks for multiple solutions and expedites resolution.
  • Full stack software development of energy management system applications.
  • Designs, modifies, develops, implements, and tests system configurations.
  • Writes/reviews documentation to describe configuration processes, logic, and test plans. Writes/reviews manuals for users.
  • Designs, develops and maintains plans related to data integrity, system reliability, and consistency.
  • Acts as a liaison between various groups, such as the field support teams, Database Administration, Network Support, and Computer Operations.
  • Develops implementation plans for individual or small group tasks and small to medium projects. Accountable for developing scope, estimation, and tracking time and resources expended on projects.
  • Perform on-call responsibilities as part of an on-call rotation.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Information Technology, Computer Information Systems, MIS, Data Science, Information Science, Engineering is required. Other bachelor's degrees will be considered based on related IT experience. Successful completion of a certified Application Development Apprenticeship will also be considered in lieu of a bachelor's degree.

This position requires unescorted access to certain critical cyber assets which would require applicants to satisfy all Company and NERC Critical Infrastructure Protection Standard 004 security requirements, which includes a background investigation.
Preferred Qualifications
  • A strong technical understanding of application development practices and strong analytical skills
  • Strong customer service skills to act as a liaison between IT and business clients
  • Coding experience utilizing Microsoft's VB.Net or .Net platform
  • Relational database knowledge, such as Microsoft SQL Server
  • Ability to present technical information to non-technical users both in small and large groups
  • Ability to understand technical environments to support the energy management system
  • Ability to collect and analyze data in order to figure out the root cause for issues

Pay Range Minimum: $68,436.68
Pay Range Maximum: $135,761.08
The pay range reflects the minimum and maximum for the position at the time of posting and may be modified in the future. The starting salary/pay within the pay range will be based on several factors, as applicable, but not limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, geographic location, shift, travel requirements, collective bargaining agreements, and business and organizational needs. At WEC Energy Group, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role.
