The Career Readiness Team is a high performing team supporting the largest Youth Apprenticeship and Carl Perkins/CTE consortium in the state of Wisconsin. Through collaboration and partnerships, our team empowers students to explore a range of options providing relevant experiences to start them on their individualized career path. SUMMARY:

The Career Readiness Consultant will provide leadership and play a crucial role in developing and implementing effective youth apprenticeship programming. Your expertise and guidance will contribute to the success of both the youth participants and the partnering organizations involved in the apprenticeship initiatives. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in youth development, program management, and industry partnerships.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Program Development: Design, develop, and implement youth apprenticeship programs in collaboration with educational institutions, industry partners, and community organizations.
  • Needs Assessment: Conduct comprehensive needs assessments to identify skill gaps and training requirements, ensuring apprenticeship programs are tailored to meet the needs of both the youth participants and the partnering organizations.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Build and maintain effective relationships with educational institutions, industry representatives, community organizations, and government agencies to promote youth apprenticeships and secure partnerships.
  • Participant Recruitment: Develop strategies for recruiting eligible youth participants into apprenticeship programs, including outreach efforts, informational sessions, and application processes.
  • Curriculum Development: Collaborate with educators and industry experts to develop and enhance curriculum for apprenticeship programs, ensuring alignment with industry standards and requirements.
  • Program Management: Oversee the day-to-day operations of youth apprenticeship programs, including participant support, monitoring progress, and providing guidance to ensure successful outcomes.
  • Mentorship and Support: Establish mentorship networks and provide ongoing support to apprentices and their mentors, fostering a positive and productive learning environment.
  • Evaluation and Reporting: Implement evaluation frameworks to assess the effectiveness of apprenticeship programs, collect data on program outcomes, and prepare comprehensive reports for stakeholders.
  • Policy and Advocacy: Stay informed about local, state, and national policies and regulations related to youth apprenticeships and advocate for policies that support the expansion and improvement of apprenticeship opportunities.
  • Professional Development: Continuously update knowledge of best practices, emerging trends, and innovations in the field of youth apprenticeships through professional development opportunities and networking.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.


Requirements

Qualifications:


  • Bachelor's degree in education, youth development, business, or a related field is preferred.
  • Proven experience in developing and managing youth apprenticeship programs, preferably in collaboration with educational institutions and industry partners.
  • Strong knowledge of youth development principles, career and technical education, and workforce development strategies.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to effectively engage and collaborate with diverse stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a keen attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in project management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Passion for youth empowerment and a commitment to providing equitable access to education and employment opportunities.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with individuals from diverse backgrounds.

WORK ENVIRONMENT / PHYSICAL DEMANDS:


Work Environment:

  • Ability to work in a professional and flexible office environment, with or without visual and audible distractions. 
  • Ability to work in multiple settings, including varied agency, school or work-related sites or a home office environment.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Position may require extended hours including evenings and weekends, travel to multiple work sites and occasional out-of-town travel.


Physical Demands:

  • While performing the duties of this position, the employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, sit, use hands to finger, handle or feel, and reach with hands and arms.  
  • The employee is regularly required to effectively communicate in person, via phone and in writing.
  • The employee is required to drive between schools and districts to provide direct service and consultation.
  • The employee may occasionally lift or move equipment, office products and supplies, up to 20 pounds.
