Job Purpose and Summary
The Apprentice Laborer performs assigned construction work safely and productively while learning under the direction of qualified supervisors and experienced workers. This position combines hands-on field experience with participation in Tapani Inc.'s employer-sponsored Apprenticeship Program.
Responsibility
  • Perform labor, setup, cleanup, and other related duties as needed to support the crew and project.
  • Follow project plans, work assignments, traffic controls, spotter directions, and established operating procedures.
  • Operate construction equipment and trucks when trained and authorized.
  • Complete required pre-use inspections, report defects, and assist with routine preventive maintenance and equipment care.
  • Work safely around moving equipment, underground utilities, excavations, changing ground conditions, and other construction hazards.
  • Follow all Tapani Inc. safety rules, policies, training requirements, and supervisor instructions.
  • Uphold the Purpose Document: Ensure that your actions and behaviors consistently align with our core values (Purpose Document - Tapani Inc.).

Job Requirements and Qualifications
  • Enrollment and successful participation in Tapani Inc.'s employer-sponsored Apprenticeship Program are conditions of employment.
  • Enroll by the date established by Tapani Inc. and complete all required registration steps.
  • Attend required classroom instruction, labs, assessments, and related training unless an absence is approved.
  • Maintain satisfactory academic progress and remain in good standing with Tapani Inc. and the apprenticeship program.
  • Successfully complete each assigned level or year of the curriculum within the required timeframe.
  • Complete and accurately document required on-the-job learning activities, performance evaluations, and training records.
  • Immediately notify Tapani Inc. of any issue that may affect enrollment, attendance, academic standing, or program completion.

Working Environment
  • This is a field-based construction position.
  • Work may be performed outdoors in rain, heat, cold, mud, dust, noise, vibration, and around moving equipment.
  • Project needs may require early starts, changing shifts, overtime, travel, or temporary assignments away from home.
  • The employee must be able to perform the essential functions of the position, with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Note: Physical ability to perform assigned tasks, lift, push and pull 20 pounds at a time, and ability to sit, stand and work on computer for prolonged periods of time.
