TheMechanicApprenticeship is designed tobuildtechnical skills inpreventative maintenance tasksand gainhands-on experience incorrective repairs of oil & gas mechanical equipment. As part of the program, apprentices will work with arange of equipment and systems such asreciprocating engines and compressors, centrifugal compressors, vapor recovery units (VRUs) & air compressors, centrifugal pumpsand more, providing valuable exposure to real-world applications in the industry.

Through a combination of structured training and immersive on-the-job learning, Apprentices areintroduced tooperating, troubleshooting,repairingandmaintainingoil and gas productionin partnership with Field Operations,Integrated Operations Center, and Maintenance and Reliability teammembers. The position provides direct exposure to the Chevron Way Values and the strong safety culture that defines the Shale & Tight Business Unit.

Apprenticeswillwork closely with adedicatedmentor,todevelop a broad understanding of how teamsand functions work together to safely deliver production and minimizedowntime andwill alsoparticipatein computer-based and classroom training.

This is a temporary 6monthfield-basedposition.

Required Qualifications

  • High SchoolDiplomaor equivalent

  • Must have a validDriver'sLicense

  • Ability and willingness towork dayand night shift work, weekends, and holidays based on assigned workschedule.

  • Live within 50 miles of the work location or willingness torelocatewithin 50 miles of the work location for the duration of the apprenticeship

  • This is a Safety Sensitive Position.Candidates must demonstrate personal commitment to Incident and Injury Free Operations with a proven record in Safety and Reliability.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Applicants must meet at least one of the following: complete an Applied Associates of Science degree (Mechanical Industrial Maintenance, Diesel Mechanic, IndustrialMaintenance,Mechanical Technologyor Mechanically related field)ORhave equivalent education or military trainingORfinish a certificate program(Mechanical Industrial Maintenance, Diesel Mechanic, Industrial Maintenance,Mechanical Technology,or Mechanically related field)withprevious oil & gas or similar industry experience.Additionally, a minimum GPA of 2.5 in core classes isrequired, andtranscriptsmust be uploaded to the applicant's online profile

  • Previousexperience with reliability,safetyand/or environmental process related issues.

  • Previousexperiencewith pneumatic/electronic instrumentation

  • Basic knowledge in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.) and an aptitude for learning new software applications.

  • Ability to work effectively and cooperatively with a diverse team of coworkers, contractors, andinternal and external customers.
