Air Products is seeking an experienced Instrumentation & Electrical (I&E) Technician to support our facilities in Port Arthur, TX, and Westlake, LA. In this role, you will be responsible for performing preventive and corrective maintenance on instrumentation and electrical equipment at the Port Arthur facility, while also providing maintenance support to the Westlake site as needed.
The primary focus of this role is to provide the technical expertise and hands-on support necessary to continuously improve the integrity, reliability, cost-effectiveness, and on-stream performance of the plant's instrumentation, electrical, and Distributed Control System (DCS) equipment.
This position is based at the Port Arthur, TX facility, with occasional support required at the Westlake, LA site-less than 10% of the time.

Responsibilities:
  • Work with and troubleshoot the following: Pressure, temperature, level and flow measuring equipment, Water analytical equipment including pH/ORP, Conductivity, Solenoids, Limit & Proximity Switches, CEMS systems, and continuous analyzers.
  • Repair and troubleshoot analog and discrete instrument loops.
  • Troubleshoot and repair control valves.
  • Read blueprints, P&ID's, single-lines, ladder logic, and wiring schematics.
  • Effectively use typical test and calibration equipment, including pneumatic calibrators, RTD calibrators, mA calibrators, T/C calibrators, digital and analog multi-meters, meggers, and laptops for equipment communication.
  • Follow step-by-step calibration procedures.
  • Use SAP to enter and retrieve data.
  • Troubleshoot and repair 480 VAC 3 phase motor controls as well as 120 VAC control circuits.
  • Gas Turbine experience is advantageous but not required.

Qualifications:
  • High school diploma/GED
  • Trade/Technical degree or apprenticeship in a related field
  • 4 years of Electromechanical or Instrumentation & Electrical experience
  • Entry level candidates with SkillsUSA membership and the ability to demonstrate PDP leadership competencies are strongly encouraged to apply
  • Military service in a related field a plus but not required (Aviation Electrician, Electronics Technician, Gas Turbine Technician, etc.)
  • Fabrication, wiring and hook up experience of Instrumentation and Electrical equipment.
  • Detail oriented and willing to document details appropriately.
  • Strong troubleshooting and fault isolation skills.
  • Strong personal safety philosophy.
  • Must be team oriented and have a willingness to learn and further develop technical skills.
  • Must be willing to work overtime and participate in an on-call schedule.
  • This is a safety-sensitive position
