Contract Instrumentation Technician – PSM Project Support

About the Role
We’re seeking an experienced Contract Instrumentation Technician to support a PSM‐related project inside an operating petrochemical facility. This role supplements the site’s Instrument Maintenance (FTE) team during project execution, commissioning, and SAT activities.
This is a project‐support role only — long‐term system ownership remains with site personnel.
Primary Responsibilities
- Perform instrument pre‐checks and bench testing prior to installation
- Support MIPS loop checks from field devices through DCS and SIS
- Execute Site Acceptance Testing (SAT) and resolve punch list items
- Verify calibration, configuration, wiring, air supply, and tagging
- Perform PSV and rupture disc tag verification
- Support testing and verification of IPL‐classified instrument loops
- Coordinate daily field activities with site Instrument Maintenance and Project teams
Required Instrumentation Experience
Hands‐on petrochemical plant experience with:
- Endress+Hauser (E+H) level transmitters, including Guided Wave Radar
- Pressure and differential pressure transmitters (including DP level)
- Micro Motion Coriolis flow meters
- E+H flow meters
- Thermocouples (single & multi‐point) and temperature transmitters
- Control valves (positioners, stroke testing, fail action)
- On/off ball valves and pressure regulators
- PSVs and rupture discs (tag verification)
- HART communicator proficiency required
Control Systems & SIS Familiarity
- Schneider Electric / Foxboro DCS
- Triconex SIS, including safety‐critical loop verification
Mandatory Credentials & Safety Training
Must have or obtain prior to site access:
- Valid TWIC
- ISTC 4‐Hour Basic Safety
Required Qualifications:
- 5–10 years of instrumentation experience in a petrochemical or chemical plant
- Experience with pre‐commissioning, loop checks, and SAT
- Strong troubleshooting and documentation skills
Preferred:
- AAS in Instrumentation, Electronics, or related field
Reporting Structure
- Works directly with plant FTE Instrument Technicians
- Daily priorities set by Maintenance and Project leadership
