Job Description:
Rabalais I&E Constructors seeks Electrician Apprentice for our Marathon jobsite located in Texas, Tx.
Assists electrician to install and repair electrical wiring, fixtures, and equipment. Measures, cuts, and bends wires and conduit using ruler and hand tools. Drills holes for wiring using power drill and pulls or pushes wiring through opening. Assists in lifting, positioning, and fastening objects, such as wiring, conduit, and motors. Performs minor repairs, such as replacing fuses, light sockets, bulbs, and switches using hand tools. Maintains tools and equipment and keeps supplies and parts in order. Disassembles defective electrical equipment, such as motors using hand tools. Load, transport, unload, and furnish Electrician with materials, tools, equipment, and supplies. Clean work area and restock supplies and materials as necessary. May erect scaffolding. May assist in lifting, positioning, and securing of materials during installation. Perform other routine duties as directed by experienced craft person.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Job Performance Requirements:
Must be able to furnish own transportation to and from job sites or staging areas. Must be able to read, write, and understand English. Must be a minimum of eighteen (18) years of age. Must not use illegal drugs or excessive alcohol and must consent to a drug and alcohol test when required. Must be able to comply with safety standards. Must have own hand tools. Workers should be able to: rate information using personal judgment or standards that can be measured or checked; work within precise limits or standards of accuracy; perform a variety of duties, which may change often; use reason and logic; perform arithmetical operations rapidly and accurately; see details in objects or drawings; recognize slight differences in shapes or shadings; and picture flat objects as 3-dimensional objects. Physically, workers must be able to: work easily and skillfully with hands; climb and maintain balance on ladders, scaffolds, and vessels; see well (naturally or with correction) and distinguish colors; reach for, handle, and grasp wires, conduit, and hand tools; bend, crouch, and work in small places; and lift and carry objects related to performing the job task. A valid Texas driver's license is preferred but will accept a State or Government issued Identification card. A valid Texas Electrical Apprentice License is required. Osha 10 a plus but not required.
Physical Demands
Essential Duties
  • Assist in the Installation of electrical raceway systems comprised of rigid aluminum, galvanized steel, PVC and PVC coated conduit and aluminum, galvanized steel and fiberglass cable tray.
  • Installation of electrical devices such as light fixtures and start/stop stations.
  • Safe operation of hand and power tools such as band saws, drills, conduit threaders, hole punches and wire tuggers.
  • Assist an Electrician in bending conduit using manual, mechanical, hydraulic and electric conduit benders.
  • Assist in installing electrical conductors (cable pulling).
  • Properly pack and pour seals.
  • Knowledge of OSHA Electrical Safe Work Practices as it pertains to a Electrical helper duties.
  • Knowledge of use, limitations and maintenance of all Personal Protective Equipment required for the assigned work.
  • Knowledge of hazards and safe work procedures associated with working form elevated work areas and personnel lift equipment.
  • Knowledge of hazards and safe work procedures associated with the assigned work including but not limited to Lockout/Tagout, Confined Spaces, Emergency Action Plans, Safe Work Permits, Incident Reporting, and Hazcom procedures.
