POSITION OVERVIEW:
Startec Compression & Process is currently recruiting an 3rd to 4th Year Apprentice Instrumentation Technician to work at our Shepard Shop (9423 Shepard Rd SE, Calgary, AB, T2C 4R6).  The Apprentice Instrumentation Technician will be able to install, support and test tubing. This role involves hands-on learning and active participation in a variety of projects, with a strong emphasis on safety, quality, and continuous improvement. Shift Details:  4:20 p.m. - 2:30 a.m. (4 days/week,10 hours/day). Overtime is as required
KEY PERFORMANCE INDICATORS (KPI):
INSTRUMENTATION & ASSEMBLY (Weighting 40%)Tubing & Instrumentation Installation
  • Fabrication and installation of tubing
  • Fabricate and install tubing raceway
  • Mount and Install instruments
Design
  • Skid layout using P&ID's, GA's
  • Work closely with other trades to optimize the design of units
TESTING & CALIBRATION(Weighting 30%)
  • Pneumatic testing of tubing is required to ensure workmanship and quality
  • Diagnose and repair faults in instrumentation tubing.
  • Keep detailed records of all installation, testing, and maintenance activities, ensuring compliance with regulatory and quality standards.
COLLABORATION (Weighting 30%)                            Professional Conduct
  • Professional interaction with internal customers, vendors, customer representatives, and inspectors.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams
  • Adhere to safety protocols and regulations
  • Participate in Toolbox meetings, conduct risks assessments, and implement mitigation measures
Continuous improvement & Development
  • Foster an environment of continuous improvement.
  • Participate in training programs: Engage in ongoing training and development to stay current with new technologies, standards, and best practices in instrumentation.
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Instrumentation Technician Apprentice 3rd year or greater.
  • Must be able to bend and support tubing
  • 2 years of industrial instrument construction/manufacturing experience.
  • Fabrication Shop experience and asset
  • Well organized, excellent communication skills, work well in a team environment.
  • Applicable tooling required
  • Required to pass a functional, alcohol, and drug test prior to onboarding
