What You'll Do:
1.) Read meters as required for field order and on schedule for cycle billing
2.) Install, remove, change disconnect, and reconnect meters
3.) Test single phase, network, and polyphase self-contained meter for proper operation and accuracy
4.) Program meters
5.) Perform Credit and Collections related order including disconnect and reconnect for non-payment
6.) Investigate irregular usage
7.) Investigate energy diversion
8.) Repair meters, meter sockets, and meter enclosures
9.) Order, receive, ship, store, and inventory meter and associated equipment
10.) Investigate self-contained service power quality problems, install event recorders, neutral testers, and produce reports
11.) Perform work from ladders and elevated platforms
What You'll Need:
Associate degree in electrical/electronic technology, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and relevant work experience of four years. Qualified backgrounds include substation, metering, instrumentation, controls, power systems, or electrical maintenance, with demonstrated hands-on experience in testing, troubleshooting, and working with electrical equipment. Examples include roles such as Meter Specialist, Meter Technician, Field Network Technician, or substation field personnel, as well as comparable military or industrial technical training.
Required License(s)/Certification(s) are listed below: State Driver License. Must possess and maintain a medical certification card, if determined to be required by law.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
Within 24 months of employment, successfully complete the Company's training and qualification program for this position including: classroom instruction; written examination; job mentoring; and job performance demonstrations. Work overtime as needed including extended daily shifts and weekends. Work late shifts as needed. Work independently under semi-direct supervision in a safe-efficient, and productive manner Proficiently use computers and applications related to this position. Effectively communicate with other employees, customer, and the general public in a courteous and appropriate manner.
Promote a positive image of the Company to customer and the general public. Comply with all aspects of the AEP Corporate Code of Conduct. Report hazards and abnormal conditions. Attend and participate in training as assigned and assist in the training of other employees. There are additional expectations for the job and could include specific work experience, license / certifications, preemployment testing, expectations about travel, shift work, etc.
