Job description

Job Summary: The Delivery Engineer supports the implementation and customer-site delivery of industrial automation systems from pre-deployment preparation through installation, configuration, testing, commissioning, troubleshooting, and handover. The role may support a range of Automation Solutions projects involving electro-mechanical equipment, controls, sensing and identification technologies, machine vision, material-handling systems, industrial networking, software-enabled devices, and related integrated technologies. Candidates may enter at a developing or fully independent level based on relevant experience and demonstrated capability.

Developing engineers complete required technical and product training and initially work alongside experienced delivery personnel. Independently leveled engineers execute standard customer-site assignments with limited supervision, serve as the primary onsite technical contact, identify site and material discrepancies, coordinate with remote project and engineering resources, troubleshoot installation and integration issues, and document completed work, deviations, risks, and corrective actions. Project assignments vary based on customer demand, available technologies, business priorities, and employee capability; the position is not limited to a single product line, partner program, or commercial offering.

Responsibilities and Duties: Support pre-deployment preparation, installation, configuration, testing, commissioning, troubleshooting, and handover of technical systems. Install, configure, integrate, test, and commission industrial automation systems, including controls, sensing, identification, machine-vision, material-handling, networking, and related technologies as assigned. Interpret drawings, layouts, wiring diagrams, network information, installation instructions, specifications, and project documentation.

Assess discrepancies between project documentation, delivered materials, and actual site conditions; resolve matters within assigned authority and escalate appropriately. Serve professionally as an onsite technical contact, coordinate with remote project managers and customers, and communicate risks, status, and corrective actions. Maintain accurate field reports, redlines, configuration records, test results, issue logs, and handover documentation.

Follow applicable safety procedures, customer-site rules, quality requirements, engineering standards, and company work practices. Complete and maintain project, technology, product, or program-specific training and certifications required before autonomous assignment. Support other commercial offerings, technologies, customers, or project types based on business needs and demonstrated capability.

Requirements Required Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechatronics, Automation Engineering, Systems Engineering, or a related technical discipline preferred. Equivalent technical education, certification, military technical training, apprenticeship, or relevant hands-on field experience may be considered. Developing-level candidates may be considered without prior professional field experience when they demonstrate strong technical aptitude and the ability to complete required training and certification.

Independent-level candidates must demonstrate prior autonomous technical installation, integration, commissioning, or field-delivery experience in customer environments across relevant automation technologies. Valid driver's license in good standing. Required project, technology, product, program, and internal technical certifications must be completed and maintained as assigned.

Required Skills: Foundational or demonstrated knowledge of electrical, mechanical, electro-mechanical, networking, controls, automation, sensing, identification, machine vision, material handling, and integrated technical systems. Ability to read and apply electrical drawings, mechanical layouts, wiring diagrams, network information, control-panel documentation, installation instructions, system specifications, and project documentation. Ability to use common hand tools, diagnostic equipment, computers, configuration software, and technical applications appropriate to assigned work.

Strong learning agility, safety awareness, accountability, judgment, adaptability, attention to detail, and practical problem-solving ability. Strong written and verbal communication and professional conduct in customer-facing environments. Ability to identify when actual site conditions, materials, scope, or documentation differ from project assumptions and respond appropriately within assigned authority.
