Responsibilities

  • Diagnose and repair complex vehicle concerns across all major systems, including automatic transmissions, engines, drivability, electrical, suspension, steering, braking, HVAC, and advanced vehicle technologies.
  • Serve as a technical expert within the shop, utilizing GM service information, factory diagnostic equipment, and proven troubleshooting processes to accurately identify and resolve customer concerns.
  • Perform advanced transmission diagnosis, repair, overhaul, and replacement on GM vehicles, while contributing across all areas of the service department as needed.
  • Complete customer-pay, warranty, and internal repairs with a focus on quality, efficiency, and first-time fix accuracy.
  • Diagnose and repair electrical and network communication issues, ADAS systems, engine performance concerns, and complex drivability problems.
  • Collaborate with service advisors, fellow technicians, and apprentices to provide exceptional customer experiences and support the development of the next generation of technicians.
  • Stay current with GM training, certifications, and emerging vehicle technologies, including EV and advanced driver assistance systems.
  • Maintain accurate repair documentation and clearly communicate diagnostic findings and recommended repairs.
  • Take pride in maintaining a clean, organized, and professional work environment while properly caring for dealership equipment and personal tools.
  • Contribute to a positive, growing team culture where technical expertise, mentorship, and continuous improvement are valued.

Requirements

  • Current GM Certifications required. ASE certifications are a plus.
  • Proven success as an Automotive Technician in a dealership or professional automotive repair environment.
  • Strong diagnostic ability with demonstrated experience troubleshooting complex drivability, electrical, engine performance, and transmission concerns.
  • Extensive knowledge of GM vehicle systems, repair procedures, factory service information, and diagnostic equipment.
  • Hands-on experience repairing and diagnosing automatic transmissions, powertrain systems, electrical systems, steering and suspension, braking systems, HVAC, ADAS, and emerging vehicle technologies.
  • Ability to perform advanced diagnostics and repairs with minimal supervision while maintaining a high first-time fix rate.
  • Must possess and maintain a complete set of professional automotive tools required to perform the duties of an A-Level Technician.
  • Experience using modern scan tools, diagnostic software, oscilloscopes, specialty service equipment, and electronic repair resources.
  • Strong work ethic, attention to detail, and commitment to delivering quality repairs and exceptional customer satisfaction.
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment while maintaining the highest standards of workmanship and safety.
  • Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
  • Willingness to participate in ongoing GM training, certification updates, and mentorship opportunities through our apprenticeship program.
