Job description

MalaceHR is seeking an experienced Supermarket Refrigeration Technician to support grocery and retail food clients with the service, repair, and maintenance of commercial refrigeration systems. This role focuses on rack systems, display cases, walk-in coolers/freezers, and related mechanical and electrical components to ensure equipment reliability, food safety, and customer satisfaction.

This is a hands-on field role offering long-term stability, growth opportunities, and industry-leading benefits.


Key Responsibilities
  • Diagnose, repair, and overhaul supermarket refrigeration systems, including rack systems, compressors, condensers, evaporators, and controls

  • Service and maintain display cases, walk-in coolers/freezers, ice machines, and refrigeration equipment

  • Perform preventive maintenance to identify mechanical or operational deficiencies before system failure

  • Test malfunctioning systems using electrical and mechanical troubleshooting skills

  • Complete service calls efficiently while exceeding customer expectations

  • Perform general HVAC and refrigeration repairs including air conditioning units, gas furnaces, motors, and pumps as needed

  • Assist with case installations, startups, and minor construction or remodel projects

  • Accurately complete work orders, service tickets, and maintenance documentation

  • Safely operate and maintain a company vehicle

  • Participate in an emergency on-call rotation

  • Perform additional duties as assigned by management


Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED required

  • EPA Certification required

  • Trade school or vocational certification preferred

  • 3+ years of commercial refrigeration experience required

  • Strong experience in supermarkets or convenience store refrigeration preferred

  • Working knowledge of rack systems, single systems, display cases, and walk-in boxes

  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision

  • Valid drivers license with a clean driving record

  • Ability to lift up to 60 lbs and stand or sit for extended periods

  • Willingness to participate in emergency on-call coverage
