Role Overview:

The Community Engagement Coordinator will serve as Applied Digital’s primary representative within the communities surrounding the site. This role is responsible for fostering meaningful relationships with local stakeholders, enhancing the company’s visibility and reputation, and ensuring Applied Digital remains a trusted and valued partner. The coordinator will strategically evaluate community opportunities, manage engagement efforts, and assist new employees in integrating into the local area while aligning activities with company goals and values.


Key Responsibilities:

Community Representation & Engagement

  • Represent Applied Digital at city board meetings, township meetings, and other community gatherings.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for local organizations, officials, and residents regarding concerns, opportunities, and partnerships.
  • Maintain a solid understanding of company projects and priorities to effectively represent Applied Digital in discussions and public forums.
  • Participate in company-led initiatives, including Applied Digital Cares and the Applied Digital Ambassador Program, to ensure consistent communication and community alignment.
  • Maintain ongoing communication with community stakeholders to understand evolving needs and opportunities.


Event & Volunteer Management

  • Plan, coordinate, and execute Applied Digital’s participation in community events in collaboration with marketing and internal stakeholders.
  • Strategically assess and recommend which events or volunteer initiatives the company should support.
  • Work closely with internal teams to promote employee participation in local events and volunteer opportunities.


Employee Integration Support

  • Serve as a local resource for employees relocating to or integrating into Ellendale, Jamestown, and surrounding areas.
  • Provide informal town tours, informational sessions, and resource guides to help employees and their families settle in smoothly.
  • Maintain in-depth knowledge of housing, amenities, community resources, and local culture to support new employee integration.


Public Relations & Corporate Responsibility

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with city and county officials, community leaders, and residents.
  • Communicate company updates, initiatives, and community involvement efforts to local stakeholders.
  • Track and report on community engagement activities, public sentiment, and partnership opportunities.
  • Support corporate social responsibility efforts, including sponsorships, donations, and volunteer initiatives.


Coordination with Data Center Development (DCD)

  • Partner with DCD to support community integration, permitting, and communications with local AHJs, ensuring consistent messaging across construction and operations.
  • Stay informed about off-site construction activities (e.g., road work, water export, utilities) managed by DCD or third-party vendors to align external and internal messaging.


Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, Public Relations, Community Engagement, or related field preferred.
  • 2+ years of experience in community relations, public affairs, nonprofit, or similar roles.
  • Strong public speaking, interpersonal, and relationship-building skills.
  • Ability to plan and manage events and coordinate multiple stakeholders.
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Familiarity with rural communities and local government structures is a plus.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with attention to detail.

Physical Requirements:

Able to remain in a seated position for an extended period and to lift and carry up to 15 lbs. (office manuals, case notebooks, case files, case materials, standard boxes, report binders, etc.) as needed.

Working Conditions by Location:

Remote: The Company agrees that Employee may work from home provided employee is in good standing, has a continuous secured internet connection, necessary equipment, and is accessible by MS Teams, phone, fax, and email during business hours. (See Telework policy.)


Office Environment: Business office hours, with work hours necessary to satisfactorily perform job functions. Some overtime may be required to accomplish timely work demands and meet the company’s professional commitments. Overtime hours worked are paid to nonexempt employees at one and a half times their hourly pay rate.


Site Location: We are a 24-hour facility. Work hours (shifts) are assigned as necessary to satisfactorily perform job functions, ensure compliance, and support efficient company operations. Some positions require work at irregular hours (nights/weekends), overtime, alternating shifts, and working in challenging conditions (heat/cold, hazardous environments, loud worksites). Overtime hours worked are paid to nonexempt employees at one and a half times their hourly pay rate.
