The Applications Engineer serves as the bridge between technical expertise and practical application, leveraging a deep understanding of engineering principles to deliver solutions that meet specific customer needs. This role collaborates closely with customers, sales teams, and product development to assess requirements, design solutions, and provide technical support. The position extends beyond conventional engineering by communicating and translating complex technical concepts into understandable terms for diverse audiences.

Essential Duties:

  • Collaborate with the sales team to understand customer needs and technical requirements for RF and data communications.
  • Provide technical expertise and support during pre-sales and post-sales activities, including design and accurate cost estimating.
  • Develop and deliver product demonstrations, presentations, and technical proposals to prospective and existing customers.
  • Customize and configure products to meet customer specifications.
  • Conduct product testing and validation to ensure optimal performance and reliability.
  • Identify and troubleshoot technical issues and provide timely resolutions and support to customers.
  • Serve as a liaison between customers and internal teams, advocating for customer needs and providing feedback for product improvement.
  • Stay up to date with industry trends, the competitive landscape, and emerging technologies to continuously enhance product offerings.
  • Assist in the development of technical documentation, training materials, and knowledge base articles.

Education and Experience Preferred:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a similar role, preferably within the wire and cable industry with RF/Coax experience.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to convey complex technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
  • Proven track record of successfully managing customer relationships and delivering high-quality technical solutions.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to travel as needed, up to 80% initially and approximately 60% after the role normalizes.

Working Conditions and Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to work extended periods in a sedentary position while using a computer and performing repetitive motions.
  • Ability to lift and move objects and materials weighing up to 25 pounds.
  • Ability to collaborate with operations personnel in a manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to follow safety guidelines and wear required PPE when onsite.
  • Frequent domestic and international travel.
  • Ability to sit for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to hear and participate in normal conversations and telephone communications.
