Polsinelli is hiring for an Applications Engineer- Financial Systems. This role can be performed remotely, but candidates must be located near one of our offices and be able to come in if needed.
POSITION OVERVIEW
The Applications Engineer - Financial Systems is a hands-on member of the Financial Applications Team responsible for the administration, support, enhancement, and technical delivery of the firm's financial applications portfolio. Working closely with Finance & Accounting, IT, business stakeholders, and external vendors, this role supports Elite 3E and related billing, accounting, expense, time-entry, cash movement, and reporting systems; develops and maintains integrations, templates, and reporting assets; and helps ensure accurate, stable, and secure financial operations across the firm. The role is essential to day-to-day production support, system improvement, and the consistent delivery of trusted financial data.
CORE RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Act as a hands-on liaison between Finance & Accounting, IT, and external vendors for assigned applications, coordinating issue resolution, system maintenance, and enhancement delivery.
  • Administer, configure, and support the day-to-day operation of Elite 3E and the firm's integrated finance applications supporting billing, accounting, expense management, time entry, cash receipts, and financial reporting.
  • Support system configuration, role-based security, user provisioning, on/offboarding, templates, master data, and change control for applications and platforms under team purview.
  • Design, build, test, and support finance-related integrations and interfaces, including Boomi jobs, bank and ACH connections, data imports and exports, reporting feeds, and other upstream/downstream system dependencies.
  • Develop and maintain queries, reports, dashboards, extracts, and reconciliations that provide accurate and timely financial data to Finance, Accounting, and firm leadership.
  • Monitor application performance, scheduled jobs, and interface processing; troubleshoot failures, analyze root cause, and coordinate timely recovery or permanent resolution.
  • Partner closely with Finance and operations teams to support month-end and year-end processing, validate outputs, and resolve data issues affecting financial integrity.
  • Translate business requirements into clear functional and technical specifications and participate in solution design, estimation, implementation, and post-deployment support.
  • Execute and support testing disciplines, including unit testing, system testing, UAT coordination, release validation, and defect triage for upgrades, patches, fixes, and new functionality.
  • Support custom templates, forms, dashboards, workflows, and other configuration or customization objects within the firm's legal financial management platforms.
  • Produce and maintain clear documentation for system configuration, integrations, support procedures, release notes, and operational runbooks.
  • Collaborate closely with Accounting, Billing, Collections, AP, AR, Treasury/Cash Management, IT, Information Security, Data/BI teams, and vendors to deliver stable, secure solutions.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement and automation that reduce manual effort, improve user experience, and strengthen controls and auditability across finance operations.
  • Provide responsive application support, knowledge transfer, and user guidance, and participate in after-hours support or critical issue response as needed.

TECHNICAL AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS
  • Progressive experience supporting legal finance applications in a law firm or similarly complex professional services environment.
  • Hands-on experience with Elite 3E or another enterprise legal financial management platform; comparable experience with Aderant Expert, Aderant Sierra, or a related platform is strongly considered. Must have legal experience/expertise.
  • Demonstrated experience supporting applications within a legal finance ecosystem, ideally including many of the following or closely related equivalents: Intapp Time, Intapp Terms, Proforma Tracker/Billstream, BillBlast, BillBack, ARCS3, Chrome River/Emburse, ClientPay/LawPay, ALP Imaging, Clocktimizer, Xcelerate, and e-billing platforms.
  • Experience with Boomi, Biztalk, or comparable middleware/integration tooling, including scheduled jobs, APIs, flat-file integrations, imports/exports, and bank/ACH integrations.
  • Strong SQL and relational database skills, including the ability to write queries, analyze table structures, validate data, troubleshoot issues, and support reporting and extract requirements.
  • Experience with reporting and BI tools such as SSRS, Power BI, or comparable platforms.
  • Experience supporting system security, role-based access, user provisioning, and audit-sensitive controls within financial applications.
  • Working knowledge of XML, CSV/file-based interfaces, APIs, and structured testing and documentation practices; scripting or automation experience preferred.
  • Experience supporting templates, forms, dashboards, workflow-related customizations, and environment migrations within legal financial management platforms.
  • Participate in the design, documentation, development, testing, installation, and support of Design Gallery solutions.
  • Strong background in testing disciplines, including unit testing, system testing, UAT coordination, release validation, and defect triage.
  • Strong understanding of financial controls, data governance, reporting accuracy, and the operational requirements of a multi-office legal finance environment.
  • Proven analytical, troubleshooting, and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders; experience supporting cloud/SaaS finance applications and modernization initiatives preferred.

The budgeted salary range for this position is $130,000 - $150,000.
