The American Heart Association has an excellent opportunity for a Sr. Manager, Application Development, Sitecore.

The Sr. Manager, Application Development, Sitecore is responsible for leading the delivery, technical execution, and operational management of the organization's digital experience platforms, with a primary focus on Sitecore and supporting digital solutions.

This role ensures the successful build, enhancement, deployment, and support of scalable digital applications across a portfolio of web and digital platforms. The position leads development teams (onshore and offshore), manages operational and project budgets, vendor relationships, and partners closely with business stakeholders to deliver solutions aligned with defined priorities.

Responsibilities

Delivery & Execution

  • Lead end-to-end delivery of Sitecore and supporting digital platform solutions, ensuring high-quality and maintainable implementations
  • Oversee development, testing, deployment, and support across multiple concurrent initiatives
  • Manage delivery timelines, dependencies, and resource allocation to meet project commitments
  • Ensure adherence to SDLC, agile practices, and release governance and teams follow platform architecture, integration patterns, and standards 
  • Guide teams in leveraging Sitecore and SitecoreAI capabilities within solution delivery

Multi-Platform Delivery Ownership

  • Oversee enhancements, maintenance, and lifecycle management of multiple digital platforms and web properties within the Digital Solutions portfolio (beyond Sitecore)
  • Ensure consistency in development practices and delivery processes across platforms

Operational & Budget Management

  • Manage operational budgets for digital platform delivery, including:
    • Staff augmentation and vendor spend
    • Platform-related operational expenses
    • Project delivery budgets
  • Partner with Procurement, Finance, and Legal teams on:
    • Vendor selection and onboarding
    • Contract execution and SOW alignment
    • Financial tracking and budget forecasting
  • Ensure adherence to financial controls and organizational policies

Vendor & Resource Management

  • Manage third-party vendors, system integrators, and offshore/onshore teams
  • Ensure vendor performance aligns with delivery expectations, quality standards, and cost controls
  • Oversee resource planning and capacity management across teams

Operational Excellence & Quality Assurance

  • Monitors operational metrics and processes and implements standard methodologies, tools, and best practices to ensure high-quality deliverables
  • Establish and enforce development practices, coding standards, and quality controls
  • Monitor system performance, reliability, and operational health
  • Ensure compliance with security, privacy, and organizational standards

Team Leadership & Development

  • Lead, mentor, and coach development teams and technical leads
  • Drive a culture of accountability, delivery excellence, and continuous improvement
  • Support hiring, onboarding, and workforce planning

Stakeholder Collaboration

  • Partner with business stakeholders to deliver solutions aligned to defined priorities
  • Collaborate with BT input on feasibility, estimation, and delivery sequencing
  • Communicate delivery status, risks, and dependencies to leadership
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree (or equivalent experience)
  • 3 years minimum of application development experience with supervisory responsibility
  • Strong experience with Sitecore (XP, XM Cloud) or similar platforms
  • Expertise in .NET, APIs, and enterprise web application development
  • Proven experience delivering enterprise-scale digital applications

Preferred

  • 8 years of application development experience with leadership responsibility
  • Experience with SitecoreAI and personalization enablement
  • Experience with headless/composable architectures and modern front-end frameworks
  • Experience with Azure cloud and DevOps practices
  • Familiarity with enterprise platforms (Salesforce, CDP, Coveo, etc.)
