Responsibilities
Job Summary: As a technician you will work closely with our project managers and with our local service team in North America at our steel industry customers. You will provide service for our equipment installation, organizing spare parts and giving qualified service in case of any problems with equipment on site.
Major Duties & Responsibilities
โ€ข Support of project managers for the realization of customized systems, refractory and laser business
โ€ข Installation and wiring of control cabinets
โ€ข Installation and cabling of our machines
โ€ข Selection, supervising and tracing of suppliers reg. purchased components and services (outsourcing when high workload)
โ€ข Perform troubleshooting of Minscsn operation
โ€ข Correction of the equipment documentation
โ€ข Perform all maintenance and scheduled PM of equipment
โ€ข Training of customer on operation of Minscan LSC-units and systems
Service
โ€ข Support of crew leaders reg. technical problems with our machines
โ€ข Organizing of spare parts, parameterization, installation and commissioning on site, if necessary
โ€ข Analysis of weak points and faults and the development of improvements in order to increase durability and availability
โ€ข Customer support at worldwide-located customer or via Telephone, Email, remote control etc.
OE/Lean
  • Actively participates in the implementation of sustainable improvement processes, such as 5S, Kaizen, Total Productive Maintenance (TPM), Daily Management Control, Standard Work and Problem Solving.

Qualifications
Education:
High School Diploma or Equivalent. Must have ability to speak and read English.
Knowledge:
Previous steel-making or other related experience required. Mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, or hydraulic experience strongly preferred
Skills & Abilities:
Communication, interpersonal, adaptability, ability to learn quickly, initiative, integrity, customer and quality focus, judgment/problem-solving, safety awareness.
โ€ข Ability to change piping in material flow system
โ€ข Able to read and understand wiring diagrams of PLC and I/O systems
โ€ข Basic knowledge in the field of control technology (Siemens SIMATIC S7), able to load programs into controllers, checking functions, fault finding, doing backups etc.
โ€ข Basic knowledge in the field of computer technology, able to install windows systems, install software, checking functions, fault finding, doing backups etc.
โ€ข Basic knowledge about pneumatic and hydraulic systems
โ€ข Knowledge of standard PC-programs like MS Word, Excel, Outlook or PowerPoint etc.
โ€ข Good English knowledge, particularly technical terminology
โ€ข The ability and confidence to work with international customers and colleagues
Physical:
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds (or more in certain shops). Must be able to withstand the physical pressures of constant standing, walking, bending, climbing, kneeling, crouching, reaching, sitting, extremes of hot and cold, as well as carrying, lifting, pushing and pulling heavy objects.
General:
May require working rotating shifts, emergency call outs, and overtime. Must wear all required safety gear. May be requested to travel. Valid Driver's License required.
