Job description

MDW Associates, LLC is seeking a Low-Code Application Developer, Mid-Level to support a mission-critical digital modernization initiative for the Missile Defense Agency (MDA) in Huntsville, Alabama. This role will support the development, enhancement, and modernization of business, contracting, acquisition, financial management, and/or related enterprise applications.
The Low-Code Application Developer will help transition legacy systems into modern web-based environments and support the continued development of MDA enterprise platform capabilities, including solutions built using the Appian low-code framework, SharePoint, Microsoft SQL Server, Power BI, and related technologies.
This role is on-site/hybrid.
The Low-Code Application Developer, Mid-Level may perform a combination of some or all of the following duties:
  • Develop, enhance, and maintain enterprise applications supporting MDA business, contracting, acquisition, financial management, and operational workflows.
  • Support the modernization of legacy technologies into modern web-based and enterprise platform environments.
  • Design, develop, and maintain custom SharePoint-based and standalone web solutions using JavaScript, HTML5, CSS3, AJAX, and jQuery.
  • Write, optimize, and maintain SQL/T-SQL tables, queries, views, and stored procedures in Microsoft SQL Server.
  • Support data validation, user input controls, and application functionality to ensure compliance with MDA requirements, security protocols, and applicable standards.
  • Develop PowerShell scripts to automate information storage, archive management, library management, and related administrative processes.
  • Design and deploy reports, dashboards, and data visualizations using Power BI to support management insight and decision-making.
  • Participate in an Agile development environment, including sprint planning, daily coordination, issue tracking, testing, and user feedback cycles.
  • Coordinate with project managers, technical team members, and government stakeholders using tools such as Jira, Microsoft Teams, and related collaboration platforms.
  • Support documentation, testing, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement of applications and development processes.

Required Experience/Skills:
  • 3 years of software development, systems modernization, or related technical experience.
  • Experience developing web-based solutions using JavaScript, HTML5, CSS3, jQuery, and AJAX.
  • Experience with Microsoft SQL Server, including T-SQL queries, database design, and stored procedures.
  • Familiarity with SharePoint customization, web parts, lists, libraries, workflows, or related SharePoint development activities.
  • Experience or training with Appian or another low-code/no-code enterprise application platform.
  • Practical experience with PowerShell scripting for automation.
  • Experience developing dashboards, reports, or visualizations using Power BI.
  • Familiarity with common development and collaboration tools such as Git, Visual Studio/VS Code, Postman, Jira, and Microsoft Teams.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, mission-focused environment.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, documentation, and communication skills.

Desired Experience/Skills:
  • Experience supporting Department of Defense, federal government, or federal contractor environments.
  • Experience with MDA, defense acquisition, contracting, financial management, or business operations systems.
  • Appian development experience, Appian training, or Appian certification.
  • Experience migrating legacy applications into modern enterprise platforms.
  • Experience supporting Agile software development teams.

Education Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Information Systems, Finance, Accounting, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • Equivalent experience may be considered in lieu of degree.

Security Requirements:
  • Candidates for this position must have an Active Secret Security Clearance.
