CT Technologist

Location: Boone, North Carolina | Full-Time | Friday - Sunday (Days)

What You'll Do as a CT Technologist
  • Perform computed tomography (CT) imaging procedures following physician orders and established protocols.
  • Provide direct and indirect patient care services tailored to individual patient needs.
  • Ensure patient safety, comfort, and dignity throughout imaging procedures.
  • Communicate effectively with patients, families, physicians, leadership, and healthcare team members.
  • Maintain accurate documentation and imaging records in compliance with regulatory standards.
  • Operate CT equipment safely and efficiently while adhering to radiation safety guidelines.
  • Respond promptly and appropriately to changes in patient condition and emergency situations.
  • Demonstrate ARHS Mission, Vision, and Values through professionalism, accountability, and teamwork.
  • Support coworkers, patients, families, and visitors within scope of practice and licensure.
Qualifications Minimum Education
  • Graduate of an AMA-accredited radiologic sciences program.
  • Applicable registry credential required; R-CT preferred.
Experience
  • Clinical radiographic and imaging experience from an AMA-accredited health science program required.
  • One (1) year of diagnostic radiology experience preferred.
  • Ability to successfully complete the CT Technologist Level II orientation program.
Licensure/Certification
  • CT registry required within two (2) years of achieving Level II competency.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association required at time of hire.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Ability to communicate courteously and effectively with patients, families, staff, and physicians using positive verbal and non-verbal skills.
  • Competence in delivering safe and effective patient care within the legal limits of licensure, certifications, and hospital policies.
  • Knowledge of the continuum of care provided within the patient care department.
  • Strong customer service skills with a commitment to patient-centered care.
Physical Demands
  • Continuous standing and walking for 8+ hours per shift.
  • Speaking, reading, and writing for extended periods (8+ hours per day).
  • Exposure to vibration and cramped spaces for more than 1 hour per day.
  • Frequent patient mobilization exceeding 4 hours per day.
  • Frequent lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling of 50 pounds or more.
  • Frequent bending, squatting, kneeling, twisting, turning, and reaching.
  • Frequent fine motor use involving hands, fingers, and wrists with moderate dexterity.
  • Frequent close eye work and exposure to soft voices at distances greater than 3 feet.
  • Frequent exposure to ionizing and non-ionizing radiation, including X-ray and microwave.
Working Conditions
  • Regular exposure to bloodborne pathogens.
  • Exposure to electrical, mechanical, and power equipment hazards.
  • Exposure to unpleasant elements such as accidents, injuries, slippery surfaces, and uneven terrain.
  • Must be able to respond to emergency or crisis situations.
  • Subject to irregular hours including days, evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • On-call coverage required.
