Job Description:

Join GDIT and be a part of the team of men and women that solve some of the world's most complex technical challenges. The CDAO Advana team is seeking an API Management Architect - Google/Apigee to join their efforts in the DC area.

Advana is the Chief Digital and Artificial Intelligence Office's (CDAO) enterprise-wide, multi-domain data, analytics, and artificial intelligence (AI) platform that provides all DoW military and civilian decision makers, analysts, and builders with unprecedented access to enterprise data, tools, and capabilities.

This is a proposal with award expected June 2026. If interested, please apply as we are interviewing and making contingent offers now.

Duties include:

  • Architects enterprise API management capabilities for Advana by defining, documenting, and promulgating technical standards and interface specifications aligned with Department of Defense architecture guidance, reference designs, and interoperability mandates. Leads advanced Google Cloud and Apigee architecture design sessions to establish secure, scalable, and policy-driven API gateways across Unclassified and NIPR, Secret and SIPR, and Top Secret and JWICS environments.

  • Designs API lifecycle models, routing patterns, authentication and authorization flows, throttling controls, and mediation policies supporting mission data exchange across Combatant Commands, Joint Staff elements, and interagency partners.

  • Implements advanced Apigee configurations, including multi-region hybrid deployments, service mesh integrations, workload identity mappings, and custom analytics pipelines to meet Advana performance, security, and governance requirements.

  • Troubleshoots complex integration issues spanning identity management systems, legacy applications, cloud-native microservices, cross-domain transfer solutions, and network access control architectures.

  • Conducts solution design workshops, technical deep dives, and architecture reviews to guide engineering teams through standardized API design practices, schema evolution models, and automated contract validation procedures.

  • Delivers expert technical consultation, hands-on demonstrations, and structured knowledge-transfer sessions to strengthen enterprise adoption of Google Cloud and Apigee capabilities.

  • Maintains API standards libraries, conformance documentation, and integration reference guides to support consistent implementation across enclaves. Advises program leadership on emerging Google Cloud Platform capabilities, Apigee enhancements, and industry best practices that improve interoperability, strengthen security posture, and advance Advana system maturity.

Basic Qualifications:

  • BS degree; additional years of experience may be considered in lieu of degree
  • 8+ years of experience architecting enterprise API management capabilities

The likely salary range for this position is $128,039 - $173,229. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
