Job description

A family-owned firm and leader in funeral service serving metro Detroit through three locations in Troy and Royal Oak, seeks a part-time funeral service associate who is committed to exceeding expectations while being engaged, dynamic and able to excel in all aspects of funeral service.
Salary commensurate with experience.
A Funeral Service Associate handles the following duties:
  • Assisting grieving families while showing continual care and concern
  • Answering phones
  • Greeting and directing visitors
  • Transporting deceased to and from funeral homes as directed
  • Preparing space for and attending to funeral services
  • Receiving and moving flower arrangements
  • Supporting and assisting funeral directors to insure the highest quality, most professional, most ethical service

A successful candidate must:
  • Possess and display an understanding of the funeral profession
  • Have a pleasant and responsive phone manner
  • Have adaptive/team player attitude
  • Have professional self-presentation
  • Be resourceful and able to multi-task
  • Be able to stand for extended periods of time
  • Be able to lift and move up to 60 pounds occasionally and up to 20 pounds of force frequently
  • Have a high school diploma or equivalent and at least two years of professional experience
  • Possess a valid driver's license and have an insurable driving record

This is a part time position, typically 10-15 hours weekly with a varying schedule consisting mostly of evenings and weekends. An applicant needs availability Monday thru Friday from 5:00pm-9:30pm and on weekends from 8:00am-9:00pm. Most scheduled hours will be on the weekends, thus weekend availability is required.
