Job Summary
The Python/Ansible Engineer will support a large-scale Configuration-as-Code transformation initiative focused on building the engineering foundation required to manage infrastructure configuration data through source control, automation, validation, and platform integration. The role requires strong hands-on experience with Python, Ansible, YAML, Git-based workflows, and CI/CD pipelines, along with the ability to independently deliver automation solutions within established project timelines.
Key Responsibilities
• Design and develop a Git-based configuration management repository structure.
• Implement branch protection, pull request workflows, and governance controls.
• Develop CI/CD pipelines to validate configuration data against defined schemas and quality standards.
• Build automation solutions supporting Configuration-as-Code initiatives.
• Build integrations that export configuration data for AI-assisted analysis and cross-team review processes.
• Develop APIs and automation workflows to synchronize configuration data between enterprise platforms.
• Create and maintain Ansible Automation Platform (AAP) job templates and workflows to automate configuration management activities.
• Develop Python-based automation solutions to support platform and configuration management requirements.
• Translate existing configuration baselines into YAML (YML) format.
• Work with JSON, YAML, and other structured configuration data.
• Implement automated validation processes for configuration data.
• Collaborate with infrastructure, security, and platform engineering teams to define standards and automation requirements.
• Support platform integrations and DevOps enablement initiatives.
• Produce technical Markdown documentation, implementation guides, and support materials.
• Apply source control, automation, and governance practices to improve configuration management processes.
Required Qualifications
• 8+ years of relevant engineering experience with the ability to work independently.
• Strong hands-on experience with Python and automation engineering.
• Experience with Ansible and configuration automation.
• Experience with Git, GitHub and/or GitLab, and pull request-based development workflows.
• Experience developing and maintaining CI/CD pipelines.
• Experience implementing automated validation processes.
• Strong experience working with YAML/YML files and structured configuration data.
• Experience working with JSON.
• Strong understanding of REST APIs and data integration patterns.
• Experience with schema-based data validation.
• Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC), Configuration as Code, or DevOps engineering practices.
• Experience developing automation workflows and platform integrations.
• Proficiency in Python, PowerShell, or other automation-focused programming languages.
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience with Ansible Automation Platform (AAP) and/or AWX.
• Experience with Test-Driven Development (TDD).
• Familiarity with AI, Machine Learning, or automated content analysis workflows.
• Experience developing enterprise integrations between multiple systems of record.
• Knowledge of configuration management, governance, compliance, and operational controls.
