About the role:

The purpose of the Animal Care Assistant is to provide animal care for larger preclinical animals.

Responsible for maintenance of research animal health, as directed by the attending veterinarian, through animal care duties

Work Mode:

At Boston Scientific, we value collaboration and synergy. This role follows an onsite work model, requiring employees to be in our local office at five days per week.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Responsible for daily maintenance of animal health and husbandry
  • Follow all SOPs and observe safety practices
  • Clean all animal housing areas daily
  • Provide enrichment to animals daily including exercise, toys and social housing
  • Disinfect each housing area weekly to include walls, flooring and feed bins
  • Feed all animals according to department SOPs
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization in all areas of the lab
  • Responsible for receipt of department deliveries
  • Communicate all health status issues immediately to Veterinary Staff
  • Document all activities in animal records and forms daily using Good Documentation Practices
  • May assist Veterinary Technicians and Veterinarians, as assigned by Manager
  • Communicate any facility maintenance required to Manager

 Required qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED 
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience and/or equivalent experience, training , or apprenticeships

Preferred qualifications:

  • A CVT is not required, and industry experience is a plus!

Compensation will be commensurate with demonstrable level of experience and training, pertinent education including licensure and certifications, among other relevant business or organizational needs. Compensation for non-exempt (hourly), non-sales roles may also include variable compensation from time to time (e.g., any overtime and shift differential) and annual bonus target (subject to plan eligibility and other requirements).
